DAILY DIARY: WHAT WENT ON AT WORK 31st AUG || ELEVATOR ENGINEERING INSIDER INSIDER

Hello hivers? I have had quite a fun, boring, busy and lazy day today. Quite confusing right, anyway that's gist for tomorrow but today is for the gist about yesterday. This post came late because of how today was, I was just procrastinating writing this blog but I can't miss it, I just have to do it.

Yesterday we visited a site at Maryland Ikeja. There was complains about the lifts stopping at some points and only having to switch it off and on back to make it work back. So, yesterday was about troubleshooting and monitoring how the lift operated.

Above is the control panel of the elevator, while the box above is the inspection box. At the time the picture above was taken the elevator was on inspection mode. We were checking the movement of the lift while on inspection.

Above is a service tool which is usually used to monitor the operation of the lift and also for testing and troubleshooting purposes.

The ES above means EMERGENCY STOP and the t00009 means 9 mins ago. The lift stopped 9 mins ago at the moment when the picture above was taken. As I said earlier the lift was reported to be stopping and we were there to find reasons while it could be.

We had checked all the safety that could trigger such but everything seems to be okay. The first safety to be checked was the governor switch, the one down below the pit was everything seemed to be fine.

We spent time monitoring the movement and the operation of the lift and then noticed an issue with one of the contactor in the control panel. So I had to check if it was okay.

The contractor above was the first issue we noticed but was later found to be okay though we found an issue with the auxillary.

The auxillary is the extra compartment on the contactor, I mean the one where the red wires were.

I placed the meter to continuity to be check if the contactor was okay. The continuity symbol on a multimeter is the same symbol as the diode symbol.

If you see the symbol above on a multimeter, it means continuity. If you take the two leads of the multimeter, and touch them together, you would hear a sound and see a reading on the meter meaning there is continuity. That was what we use to discover the issue with the auxillary. We changed the position of the wires to solve the issue.

While I was working, I was also enjoying myself at the same time taking pictures. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. So below are pictures that was taken yesterday.

Anyway, let me stop here. I would come tomorrow to tell you how today went. I didn't go out to work today and was at home all through.
