Every morning gives us the opportunity to make our lives better and to correct any mistake we might have made yesterday.

I use the quote above to welcome you into another episode of my daily diary. It has really been a great sharing moments of my life and also what I have been doing at work. So let us dive into Thursday activities. I promise it would not be too long and would be a quick one.

I had to leave home without eating because I have to meet up with my colleagues to a particular site. This site we were visiting was a common site and it was not even expected to receive a call from them because we believed we have solved every issue. The location of the site is Maryland Ikeja.

After arriving at the location, we checked what was wrong with the elevator by using both the test tool which is also called the service tool and also going to check it physical either to see if the doors where properly closed and anything we might may find isn't right.

The thing that surprised us was that the elevator was not moving on inspection mode from the control room which made us had to check if it would be the same on the car of the elevator.

On getting there we found something not expecting, "the elevator guide shoe" had been removed. Actually not by anybody but because the rubber holding the shoe and the metal had eaten off. That's what caused the elevator not to move.

As you can see just in the picture above, the tiny space between the rectangular object (the elevator guide shoe) and the metal (the shoe holder) is where the rubber that joined both together is but this time it has been eaten up a bit.

The solution to this problem was to weld both parts together. Therefore the shoe guide was taken to a welder so that the problem can be solved.

Unfortunately for me, I wasn't the one who took it to the welder neither did I follow up. Someone was needed to be with the lift moreover I had a flat battery.

The elevator guide had been welded and is back to be fixed back. It could not be easily fixed back so we got a wood plank that was used to shift the elevator a bit, so we can easily place the guide shoe back easily.

IMG_20200910_125420_121.jpg

This was the plank that was used. Apologies if I can't shoe you as it was used because it is not possible to do two things at time i.e. be snapping what I am doing as I am doing it.

In the picture above, the shoe guide has been fixed back. We noticed there was a lot of grease on the guides of the elevator so we got diesel to wash it away. It is best if normal engine oil was used on the guides instead of the grease. When grease is used it begins to compound on the guide and affects the elevator movement moreover it doesn't make the guide look neat enough.

The picture above is the diesel used and the guides that cleaned. As I promised not to make this blog too long, I would stop here but obviously you should know the lift ended up working fine. So that's all for now. We would meet tomorrow when I come to gist you how my Friday went 😊.

Do have a great Friday!!!

Hey mate,

Your day to day life looks pretty cool.

However, do you think this sort of diary content really fits into the LeoFinance community?

Seriously, I didn't know oh.. I only use the tag once a while but never thought it would be okay to post something like that into the community.

I had thoughts of calling you today because you last published two days ago. Haven't done that because of my busy day.

I hope all is well?
