DAILY DIARY: HOW MY TUESDAY WENT || ELEVATOR ENGINEERING INSIDER

“You've got to get up every morning with determination if you're going to go to bed with satisfaction - George Lorimer.”

This is a quote by George Lorimer. I use it to welcome you to my daily diary. Everyday, I try to wake up feeling positive about the morning and when I get to bed even if I go with thoughts, I sleep with satisfaction that there are "BETTER DAYS AHEAD"

If you are my new reader, this diary contains mostly what I do at work and if I don't go to work, it would be about my day activities.

In yesterday's diary, we planned on visiting 3 locations but it was only two sites we were able to reach while it was only one of them we were able to solve the problem we faced.

Today, we (my colleagues and I) visited the last site which we could not reach yesterday. The site location was at Maryland, Lagos Nigeria. It hasn't been our first time there this month but we have been going there often to check and record the fault of the elevator.

The fault for this elevator is that it stops on operation and we had different reasons for the cause of this elevator. We first thought it could be the brake contactor due to the sliding sound it makes before it stops and we later thought it could be the elevator tape guides which is found above the elevator itself.

Kindly forgive me for not having the picture of the elevator tape guide to show you. This is because I was in the control room helping out while the others was checking out the tape guide.

Luckily for us, after the adjustment of the tape guide the elevator worked fine for the next hour we used to monitor it if it would stop again but it didn't. We left in hope that the problem has been solved though we would be called back if any breakdown occurs.

These pictures below were taken not long after we left the location.

The next site we visited was the first one we visited we went to yesterday. We couldn't detect the actual fault of the elevator yesterday because the board it uses cannot be detected by a service tool and this time, we came with our own board.

In the picture above, the first picture is our board which is freshly new while the second is the board that belongs to the elevator.

Now that we had a board that can be read by a test tool, what we needed was to check it out.

Presently, I would try to summarize all that happened briefly because a lot did and it is not easy to arrange them all here.

We read a DDO error with the service tool. The elevator was working with this board but the door would not open while for the other board, the elevator works and would not close door. It was quite confusing that I had to check if there was any thing wrong with the call buttons remote station in the elevator.

After the check, we figured the remote station was okay and nothing wrong with it. While I was done checking that was when my colleagues figure they didn't turn on a switch in the control panel. The lift began to work properly with our board then we decided to swap the board to see if it would do also work perfectly but no it didn't. Thus, it brought our conclusion that the old (former) board is faulty. Arrangement had later been made to repair the board and to be tested later.

That's all that went yesterday at work. Before I end this diary, I would share some pictures I took at the site just before leaving.

As you can see that the picture is the car park of the site. The building is actually part residential and office related.

So that's how my day went. I would come back tomorrow to gist you how Wednesday would be. I hope you have a great day ahead. 😊🤗
