3D Printing The Future! - Introduction Post

avatar

Hello Everyone,

I'm @print3dpro,

Your typical introverted internet nerd.
I started 3D printing a few months ago with an Ender 3 V2, and realized quickly that 3D printing is very involved with multilayer critical thinking.

In other words, 3D printing is not easy, and requires a lot of time, energy, and focus to become proficient with this craft.

In many ways 3D printing has changed my life for the better.

I'm able to save money by printing things for my home (towel hangers, utensil hangers, storage boxes, gardening tools.)
The list is endless, if you can imagine it, you can print it!

Now I will print my profile name with a 0.8 mm nozzle , and 0.5 mm layer height:

Any 3D printing pro will know this is far from a perfect print!
I know most of the problematic areas of this print, and would love to discuss what could be done to improve it!
Do you think you know? Tell me in the comments!

I intend to use this blog to teach about 3D printing and design work.
Any and all prints will be my own designs unless given permission to host other peoples work.

I am just starting my journey with 3D printing, and I would love suggestions on what you would all like to see from me.

Timelapse videos are in the plans, but I have to get my equipment up to par for this, and it will take some planning.

Thank you all for stopping by. I will try to post various times throughout the week with different styles of educational 3D printing posts.

It's a pleasure to be here!

Doesn't state having a INTJ personality but I have a feeling you're also one. 😎 Welcome!

In other words, 3D printing is not easy, and requires a lot of time, energy, and focus to become proficient with this craft.

I think over time this will become less of a issue. As amateurs experiment with ideas and patents eventually expire into the public domain a lot of things about 3D printing will become more user friendly.

I've spent many hours reading posts on various 3D printing forums. Anecdotally it seems like a good number of problems are solved by changing one or more settings either on the 3D printer or the slicer. If I weren't focused on developing my 3D printing skills to design assistive technology I'd be thinking about how to add a.i. automation to 3D printers.😁

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm an INFJ actually, but you were very close! 😉

I think over time this will become less of a issue. As amateurs experiment with ideas and patents eventually expire into the public domain a lot of things about 3D printing will become more user friendly.

I was thinking earlier about this, and what it would entail for mainstream consumer use. I do not think the current tech has any place in the mainstream arena because of the level of troubleshooting abilities it takes for one to proficiently print. I'm not suggesting average folks are not intelligent enough for 3D printing, but we live in a fast past society of instant gratification.

If I weren't focused on developing my 3D printing skills to design assistive technology I'd be thinking about how to add a.i. automation to 3D printers.

As a continuance to the thought, A.I. automation of maintenance and calibration would indeed be the perfect solution for mainstream user incorporation.
It's going to be very interesting to see how the technology progresses. 3D printed houses are already a thing.

I think it's really cool that you are interested in designing assistive tech, and I look forward to learning from one another, thanks so much for the support and conversation. It was a pleasure chatting! 😀

Great stuff! I'm yet to even see a 3D printer IRL lol.

Looking forward to learning about this.

Welcome to Hiveland :P

Hello! Thank you for the warm welcome and tip! 😀

In this case, the most severe issue at play is there is not enough filament being extruded from the nozzle to keep up with the speed of the print.
To fix this, the flow rate needs to be increased, and the speed needs to be decreased.
It is likely the heat would actually need reducing in this case as well. 😄

I can't wait for you to get a 3D printer too! Thanks for the kind words :)

okay, so little less heat, little slower printing, bigger valve for plastic string?

yea man, I've also heard one can make filament from plastic bottles (by cutting them in long strings; maybe a little machine which makes those strings round)

will be epic :D

You're welcome! it's been a while since I read 3D printing here. Maybe you should start 3D printing community? I myself have interest on it but atm it's quite an expensive hobby for me to get into 😄 but lately I am considering doing it cause as you mentioned, you could actually saved money too.
