Clicking At The Speed Of Thoughts

Brink Bionics Impulse is a product that might look cool while playing Cyberpunk 2077. But it is more of a technological boost for professional players of multiplayer shooter games such as Counter: Strike.

The Brink Bionics Impulse comes originally from an Indiegogo campaign that took place last year. They describe it as a neuro-controller for gaming on the PC that should be useful especially there where milliseconds can make the difference. So, usually multiplayer shooters. But how does it work?

To make things simple, it is an AI glove that uses its integrated sensors to recognize neural impulses and the AI predicts the moment when we decided to click on the button that shoots the weapon. The goal is to have the click go through earlier than would be possible without using the glove. The creators promise up to 80 milliseconds of improvement but if we will be more realistic then somewhere between 30 to 50 milliseconds could be actually true.

The usage is quite simple. You just put the glove on and go through and let it get used to your hand so it can correctly detect your specific neural impulses that lead to pushing one of the two main buttons on your mouse. Once the systems adjust it should be capable of clicking the mouse button for you before you physically click it yourself.

According to the creators, the lag between the brain sending a signal and the movement of the finger itself is about 150 to 200 milliseconds, thus the Brink Bionics Impulse glove should reduce that by roughly one-fourth. On the other hand, we have to ask whether the hardware is completely reliable and it is very obvious that this is the kind of device that needs to be tested by everyone individually to see whether it has a tangible benefit for them.

Interestingly, the product is not that expensive, costing 103 British Pounds.
