Hello dear friends.

Through the report entitled "The Global Risks Report 2022" published by the World Economic Forum, this international organization points out that the current dependence on computer systems has increased the number of computer crimes and warns us that cyber-attacks will continue to be one of the main threats that humanity will face in the short term, and therefore, cybersecurity is a challenge that we must face soon.

This organization announced the main challenges facing humanity in 2022, and together with climate change, pandemics and the fight against social inequality, cybersecurity is one of the most important global risks.

Some of the experts who participated in the preparation of the report express their concern due to the increase in attacks based on malware and ransomware, which soared worldwide in 2021, increasing by more than 400%. Experts say. According to experts, the problem is that these attacks are more frequent and varied than their ability to detect and eradicate them.

This forum points out that the current dependence of governments on digital technologies to manage public, commercial and financial services has shaped a landscape in which cybercriminals are finding vulnerabilities that are increasingly dangerous.

Perhaps in the last two decades we have witnessed how our society has evolved towards an increasingly digital world, especially in these last two years we have seen how our way of working has changed driven by the pandemic, performing remotely activities that previously required our presence, and companies and government sectors were forced to quickly adopt platforms for the exchange of sensitive information, which makes us more and more dependent on computer systems.

And soon we may see even more drastic changes with the advent of metaverses, which will surely bring even more profound changes in how our society works, moving even more activities to the digital environment, for example our meetings at work or with friends could be held in a place in cyberspace, this will force us to be increasingly connected to the networks and even to have more connected devices in our home, thus being increasingly exposed to cases of cyber intrusion.

It is not surprising then that cybercrime will come to occupy an important position in terms of frequency and costs for institutions and individuals in general. This is why governments must accelerate the adoption of measures for the protection of institutions and individuals.

But the problem that the Forum has pointed out in this report is that with the same speed as new technologies advance, new cyber threats appear, and due to this pace, the authorities are overwhelmed in their capacity to deal with them and respond to them. In addition, this situation is compounded by the fact that there is a great shortage of professionals trained in cybersecurity, which leaves a very large gap between the solution needs and the professionals in the area.

Undoubtedly we are at a time when both companies and governments must join efforts to be able to deal with cyber-attacks, he even points out that attention should be paid to emerging technologies such as blockchain, whose exponential growth in recent years lets us see that it will have a great impact in the future.

In the meantime, let's remember that the best measure we can take is to be vigilant and cautious; criminals look for security breaches to get to our information, so let's not share secret passwords anywhere and avoid saving them in the browser, Let's use the two-factor authentication that many digital services and social networks have implemented, and take care of your privacy, no matter how social the networks are, do not disclose so much personal information, an attacker can crack a password based on your personal information or even steal your identity, and use very accurate data to defraud one of your acquaintances.

Well friends let's be cautious and let's expand our cybersecurity, we already see that it will be a target of attacks more frequently in the short term.
