I can talk about this, since I worked for many years as a foreman on the construction of underground gas pipelines and am familiar with earthworks and the peculiarities of the soil, which may suddenly become mobile, or rapidly mobile.

Once, working with a shovel in hand, in the middle of a very wide and deep trench, it was necessary to dig a hole to install a mole, which had to be punctured under the highway, I was covered up to my waist with collapsed, suddenly collapsed soil.

I, even, could not react in time, everything happened so rapidly.

Since then, sending my team to earthworks, I paid special attention to the properties of the soil and monitored the formation of cracks in its sections.

So, I looked at this quarry and did not see a foreman there, or a person who would follow the process of conducting work.

The excavator who drove the excavator and the dump truck driver who waited for the truck body to be filled with soil ... that's all.

Both of them, in a critical situation, will not be able to do anything.

An excavator standing on the edge, in a very dangerous proximity to the edge, could collapse at any moment, together with the soil on the truck, two people could die in one second.

Someone decided to save money and did not provide for a foreman at the facility and, apparently, did not provide instructions on the safety of earthworks.

This is not just a black and white photograph, it is a fluke that the tragedy did not happen.
