RIVER IN MOTION

(Edited)

On the 22nd of June 2022, I took a walk by the river Mirna, after driving about 90 kilometers to get there.

In today's post made of material collected on that summer excursion, you'll see the river, the green scenery around it ...

... and a nice variety of small arthropods that live there, but you won't see many photographs.

The central, most important part of the post is the following video which can show you the river in motion. Have a good viewing.

Here you can see some stuff recorded near the river called Mirna in the northern part of Istra, the peninsula on whose southern cape I live. Besides the scenery and the flowing water, I'll show you also some insects and one spider.
Their scientific names, or at last a name of the family they belong to, can be seen in the following list that includes the time when they first appear in the video.
00:42 Calopteryx splendens, a damselfly from the Calopterygidae family.

01:18 The Leptophyes boscii bushcricket from the Tettigoniidae family. A nymph is eating its old exoskeleton after finishing the molt.

02:54: Bembecia scopigera, a moth from the Sesiidae family. You can see a mating pair here.

03:46 Coraebus rubi, a beetle from the Buprestidae family.

04:41 Micropodisma salamandra, a grasshopper from the Acrididae family.

05:04 Fruticicola fruticum, a snail from the Camaenidae. This is a small, young specimen.

05:48 Orthetrum coerulescens, a dragonfly from the Libellulidae family.

06:58 A grasshopper from the genus Chorthippus of the Acrididae family. Can't tell you what species exactly. The insect in the video is a male and is singing, or more like playing an instrument which is its own body.

07:04 Platycnemis pennipes, a damselfly from the Platycnemididae family.

08:01 Celypha cespitana, a small moth from the Tortricidae family.

08:10 Oxyopes heterophthalmus, a spider from the Oxyopidae family, has caught the Eysarcoris aeneus, a bug from the Pentatomidae family.

08:20 Ectobius vittiventris, a cockroach from the Ectobiidae family.

The soundtrack is made of some beautiful free-to-use stuff from Pixabay.
