ELEVEN SHOTS FROM AUGUST 2016

Today I'm about to show you a small collection of photographs taken during the summer of 2016. The post is prevalently about insects. Have a good viewing.

(Enlargeable)

In this opening photograph, you can see an interesting dung beetle from the genus Copris in the Scarabaeidae family that was posing on the palm of my hand, early n the morning on the 7th of August 2016. I can't tell you what species exactly this is because today while preparing this post, I found on the Internet a few very similar ones that could be present in my area. The photograph was taken in front of my house. The beetle was resting on the front facade, near the entrance. It probably ended up there the night before, attracted by the light. Some minutes later ...

... I left the beautiful, rhinoceros-like beetle on one of the branches of the elderberry tree in my yard. I encountered this species only two or three times in my life. The evening sky, shown in the following shot ...

... was photographed ten days later, in the coastal area called Marlera, about seven kilometers from my hometown.

On the evening of the 26th of August, I was in Marlera again. And I photographed some insects on that occasion. Here you can see a group of Halictus scabiosae males. These prevalently solitary bees congregate in the evening to spend the night in groups on the dry herbaceous plants of the coastal meadows.

These two wasps from the genus Sphex in the Sphecidae family were also getting ready to sleep.

Here you can see a fly and a beetle. The beetle belongs to the Elateridae family, and the predatory fly is part of the Asilidae family. These two insects
don't have much in common but the photographs do. Both shots are blurred and far from good quality. But believe me when I tell you that the quality could have been much worse considering the low light conditions at the end of that hot summer day.

On the 5th of August, I visited the Nature Park Cape Kamenjak, the southern cape of Istra. That place is only about eight kilometers from where I live. I took this funny selfie there.

I also took a very up-close look at this leaf on that occasion ...

... and I photographed the young, wingless mantis shown in this last picture.

THAT'S ALL. I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO SAY, AND NO MORE PICTURES TO SHOW. BYE-BYE. HAVE A GOOD DAY, OR NIGHT, WHEREVER ON THE PLANET YOU ARE. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.

Oh wow.. I knew them as rhino beetles when I was a child. They are soooo dope! Bees are just the bees-knees! I dig 'em - truly! hmm.. I'm not as comfortable around wasps lmao - though I respect them.

Praying mantis - yay! Stoked to see them in your photos. Actually blessed to have a few around where I stay. Very cool creatures! Dig 'em too.

All your photos are dope mate. #rockstar

Hey neat! I was thinking it was a great idea to post the greatest hits of photos for a month when I looked at the title. Then I discover it is a post looking back at some awesome shots from a while ago. So damn interesting to see the insects and learn a little about them from your perspective.

Pictures are enough to make us belive someone on something
Nice pictures!

Beautiful clicks as usual. But I don't like insects much. You can say, I am not insects friendly and wherever I see insects, I immediately remove them from that place.

beautiful photographs of insects. I especially like the dung beetle and the group of Halictus scabiosae males. They are all so interesting and unique.

I also enjoyed reading about your experiences in Marlera and Cape Kamenjak. It sounds like you had a great time exploring the natural beauty of your region.

I'm glad you took the time to share these photos with us. They are a great way to learn about the diversity of insects and the importance of protecting our natural environment.

Images from 2016, that's like seven years ago. They look like images taken 2 days ago. This can only mean you took this photograph with a very clear camera.

Thanks for sharing they are lovely

Hey these are great!

Do you do this for a living or for hobby? Because you're really good at identifying them.

Just hobby. 🙂 My favo0rite hobby. The Internet helps a lot with identification. I wouldn't be able to do it offline.
