This is my post entry this time for the challenge on #monomad curated by @monochromes.

Hi everyone, how are you and good night, so tonight I'm going to share a picture of an insect that I found earlier.

In my area people often call it by the name leaf insect because these insects are often on the leaves and especially the legs that are shaped like leaves. These insects are often found in rice fields and especially on plants that grow in rice fields. This insect can emit an unpleasant odor if we touch it and that is part of his way of tricking his enemies.

Although this insect looks unique, it turns out that this insect is also included in the category of pests that harm humans, especially farmers.

According to the explanation from Wikipedia, Leptoglossus is a genus of true insects in the aphid family and the Anisoscelini tribe. Species spread throughout the Americas, with some records in east & south Asia and Europe (mostly introduced). Like members of several other genera in the family, this insect has a leaf-like extension on the hind tibia.

This insect can eat all kinds of plant leaves that it lands on, such as cucumbers, sweet potatoes, chilies and cabbage leaves, that's why humans consider these insects as pests. Here are some pictures of these insects and this time I took them based on a different background so that the image looks interesting after being made into a black and white effect.

First pose stage

At the shooting stage in this first pose, I chose to oppose the direction of the sun's light so that the object of the image looks solid black and for the object I placed it on an old tree branch.

Stage two poses

At this second pose stage I chose a greenish background so that the image looks more attractive and for the object I placed it on an old tree branch as well.

Stage three poses

At this last pose stage I chose the ground as the background of the image and maybe it looks impressed too and I put the object on my index finger so that all my friends can understand the size of the object.

At the shooting stage this time I deliberately chose a background like this because I wanted it to look different from the previous shooting. This insect, if we look at it from above, looks like a dry leaf shape.

This insect has the following forms and characteristics.

  • has a brown and gray body color
  • has six legs, three on the left and three on the right
  • has a pair of long antennae
