Monomad - Sumatra praying mantis

This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge

About two days ago I went to the bushes by the river "Tutue Keurembok". And that's where I found "changkadak", the name for the praying mantis from the Acehnese people. Many names are given by various tribes for this grasshopper, such as the Malays who call it "Mentadak", and in Indonesia it is generally known as "Belalang Sentadu".

This insect from the order Mantodea always lifts its front legs which at first glance look like they are praying. Maybe because that's what makes this grasshopper called the praying mantis.

As for other appearances, this grasshopper is not too different from other types of grasshoppers, both in terms of color, head shape and even the two long antennae. The slight difference is in the forelegs which are larger than the grasshopper's feet. In addition, the forelegs are large and thorny is a weapon for this grasshopper to ambush its prey.

Below I have uploaded some photos of the praying mantis I mean. Unfortunately I only found a baby praying mantis so I wasn't optimal enough to photograph it in more detail. Hopefully next time I can find this grasshopper with a larger size or an adult praying mantis, so I can more easily photograph it perfectly.
