Monomad: Old Diecast Car Brings Me to the Past
Despite the fact that I am currently the parent of two sons, seeing my youngest son's toy cars makes me occasionally long for my childhood.
My parents never bought me toys, but it doesn't imply that I don't have any toys at all. I could make my own toy car at the time. I constructed it out of bamboo or sago palm fronds. I normally use old flip-flops for the tires after circling them with a compass drawing tool. I prefer to use a stick to push the car into a run rather than the plastic rope that some kids wrap around the front bumper of the car.
However, a lot has changed since then. Today's kids most likely can't create a toy car out of bamboo, thatch fronds, or anything like that. If they want a toy car, all they have to do is whine to their parents to get them to go out and buy one. Easy enough!
This is an old car from one of my youngest son's diecast toys. It appears older than it actually is simply because of the numerous scratches caused by constant rubbing. And I'll submit these photos for the daily #monomad challenge, hosted by @monochromes.

It's sad that kids don't know how to make cars out of bamboo!
There's a group of mainly chaps on Facebook, who get together with their motorised toys on our local moors. It's a running joke now, that when they post their pics online, they make them look like they are real cars. They then wait for someone to come along and tell them off for cutting up the countryside, not realising they're toys. It's the little things that amuse me. 😁
Enjoyed your photos, as always.
I'm sorry for the delayed response to your comment. In our place, the situation is identical. Even some of my friends purposefully purchased toy vehicles, not for their children, but rather for a YouTube video they intended to post for youngsters to watch. They can benefit in this way.
I greatly appreciate your sharing this intriguing experience with me. 🙂
No apologies needed. I need to get my little car out again!
