The FANTECH MPC 900/450 Zero-G Cordura Gaming Mousepad | Review

INTRO

After a collaboration done with Fantech Bangladesh, a brother of mine and I got the chance to try out and review the Fantech MPC900 Zero-G back in August 2021 when it first hit the local market. After 2 weeks of use I myself posted a first impression and short-term review about this mousepad on Facebook. The mousepad then was quite the popular "topic" in the Bangladeshi mouse/gaming communities. Yet, that was just a short-term impression. What really matters, especially to me is longevity and performance over a long period of time. So, here we are after 6 months almost, which I think should be the benchmark for long-term reviews.

PAST USER EXPERIENCE

Once again mentioning here, I have started my search for the perfect mousepad for my personal use back in 2019. Starting with basic local replicas, cheaper options offered by newer brands. Also, from mid to fairly expensive top branded mousepads. Main focus being, to find out if they actually do make a difference and I can confirm to you all, YES THEY DO, by quite a lot I must say. I think mousepads are the most complex in this category. The category of gaming and aiming or peripherals in general.

But for me I think this is where I stop my search, at least for a year or two, unless I change my play style, DPI/sensitivity. I remember saying to myself back when I got the pad

this thing should last a long time in terms of durability

and it surely did

My main mousepad previously was the Cougar Speed 2, a mousepad which I had used for close to 2 years. Then I switched to the ROG Sheath Electropunk Edition and later on shifted to the XrayPad AC+ ROB. I have also tried the AMP900, but that thing is not built for me, a person with sweaty hands, nor is it built to last, NOT EVEN A BIT. Now from all these pads in terms of compatibility only the XrayPad and Cougar Speed 2 came close to my play style, even though the Cougar Speed 2 lost its touch after a year of use. Yet, it did serve me for the longest period of time out of all the mousepad I've used. But for me and my aiming experience, it always felt like there was something missing while using all of these pads.

THE MISSING PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

However after using this Cordura pad, the gap that was created of something being missing has been filled FINALLY! The Cordura fabric, not only is it durable but it also provides the smoothest experience. For me, mainly the issue was with the initial friction, causing me to under-aim/under-track(whatever the term maybe) for which I later had to adjust my aim(move my arm a bit more or faster, I usually missed a lot of shots initially or midway, until I adjusted it according to the opponent's movement.

Yes, the previous pads did provide good stopping power, a trait this Cordura pad rarely has. The Zero-G is a speed pad. It's built for speed and smoothness, having almost "Zero" stopping power. Hence, the name I guess. After using this pad I found out that I was never in need of micro adjustments/corrections and stopping power was never a problem, it wasn't much of a necessary feature for me. I was always naturally accurate enough with my micro adjustments and flicks. All I was missing was the speed/smoothness to track and to flick properly. The Zero-G pad right here surely solved all of that. I have finally found the missing piece of the puzzle (pretty sure lol)

GAMES & MICE TESTED ON

Games I've tried on this mousepad so far: Apex Legends, COD Warzone, COD Modern Warfare Multiplayer, COD 4, COD Vanguard, Aim Lab. So, since these games are fast paced and mostly rely on tracking. This pad just flows, smooth sailing all the way. Also, it compliments my in-game sensitivity/DPI, which is quite low compared to the average player. (DPI - 400, Sensitivity - Apex: 2.4, COD 9.3)

The list of mice I have tried on this pad: Cooler Master MM711, The Razer Viper, Logitech G102 Light-sync. I am currently using the Logitech G Pro X Superlight, maybe some you noticed it above in the images haha. A short term review on the Superlight is coming up soon, stay tuned for that. Also, I have tried my Razer Viper with the aftermarket Tiger ICE feet on this mousepad. Fast skates on a very fast pad? An amazing experience, for me at least. Aftermarket PTFE feet/skates are a good addition and worthy upgrade to your mice. Do look into the available options and the pros and cons they offer, they are surely an upgrade that goes well with this exact pad. Making the overall experience more smoother and faster.

CONCLUSION

So, in short, if you're someone who plays fast paced tracking and flicking centered games on a low DPI/sens then this pad just might be for you. Especially if you're someone who can't track and flick properly or if you're simply under-aiming/tracking. BUT do keep the stopping power and the micro adjustments in mind, cause this pad won't help you much in those categories.

No question about durability I'd say, this thing is SOLID to this day. Easy to clean, a sweat and dust resistant MAMMOTH. Also, a rare thing I've noticed on this pad because of the low friction, whatever amount of the mouse cable I have resting on the pad doesn't affect my gameplay. Like on the previous pads, because of rougher surfaces and a decent amount of friction the cable would create a slight hassle once in a while. Non of that exists here on this pad and I can aim quite freely on here because of the smooth and buttery surface.

For those of you who have read till the end, you and I both deserve a KitKat break haha. I truly thank you all for sticking around till the last line. Cheers guys, do take good care of yourselves. GG and happy gaming 🥃☮️

That's a nice mousepad you've got! I'm also looking for an xxl one since I have a pretty big desk and i think it would work great. I should consider this option too 🙂
