Epic Games declares war on Apple?

Fortnite's depiction of 1984

I don't know if you guys have seen it, but Epic Games has recently declared an all-out war on Apple. After Epic Games added direct payment option in Fortnite, an option that would make VBucks (in-game currency) cheaper because Epic not giving Apple their 30% cut off of IAP (In-App-Purchases) Apple quickly removed Fortnite from their App Store. Which would greatly damage Epic Games as millions of their users wouldn't have access to their #1 game, Fortnite.

As if they've been waiting for it, just 3 to 4 hours later, Epic Games officially sued Apple with 60+ pages long documentation and shared the whole process on @FortniteGame Twitter account. Mind you that, they are not sharing it under Epic Games, but Fortnite instead. The reason is simple, over 11 million followers.

With the recent actions taken by Apple such as blocking Google Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Microsoft Project xCloud, it is possible to infer that the gamers were somewhat mad against them already. Epic Games seems willing to give the smashing blow.

BUT! Is it really ethically correct to attack Apple?

I personally stand against these actions taken by Epic Games. Apple gets lots of money every year thanks to their App Store cut and they clearly state that if you like to put an app under App Store, you need to give them the 30% cut off your IAP. Epic circumventing this deliberately and immediately filing a lawsuit when Apple fights back.

And the funniest thing? Epic Games compares Apple with the oppressive regime that was in George Orwell's famous book, 1984.

Said video, taken from their YouTube account.

If Epic is so keen on "defying the Apple App Store Monopoly" wouldn't it make more sense for them to just leave the App Store and create a device and OS themselves and see if they can market it out? They can play by their own rules then.

Let me know your thoughts. Do you support Epic or do you support Apple?

Epic games have their nerd army on their side, so they'll just play the victim card long enough to get points in the case. Even if they lose in court, they will.make a loud enough noise in social media for people to decide to move out.

In some way, I feel.like this is an opportunity for blockchains to capitalise on the situation. What's stopping them from running on Hive?

I personally dont like Apple at all. Neither from a developers point of view (ridiculously high fees for everything, many limitations) nor from a consumer standpoint (again, too many limitations, unfounded high prices) so I am actually quite glad that someone is giving them some sour medicine.

But to be fair, Epic knew about Apples policies and since they came up with a whole campaign against Apple it has been planned for quite some time. Not really a gentlemans move.

At the end, they will get to an agreement, somehow. We just need to wait if we, as small devs and gamers will get some benefit out of it.
