El avance de la medicina ha permitido en los ultimos años restablecer el proceso de enfermedad en gran parte de las patologias agudas asi mismo controlar los signos, sintomas y aparicion de otras complicaciones en enfermedades cronicas, si bien es cierto el tratamiento medico siempre será la opcion ante cualquier enfermedad, como personal de salud debemos estar preparados a atender las necesidades fisiológicas del paciente incluyendo las creencias religiosas.

Dentro del cuidado humanizado por parte del personal de enfermeria se incluye el atender las necesidades religiosas de cada paciente esto se encuentra dentro las teorías de enfermería, la fe influye en el proceso de recuperacion aliviando el sufrimiento al establecer su conexión con Dios, por parte del personal de salud siempre debemos ser tolerantes y atender a su llamado, nunca se debe despreciar su teoria en cuanto a la creencia el paciente es libre de expresar sus pensamientos.

Dentro de este aspecto tambien se encuentra la autonomía del paciente en donde el puede rechazar cualquier procedimiento o tratamiento que le impida su religión. El personal de salud puede explicarle los beneficios y las complicaciones que podria presentar al rechazarlo sin embargo si el paciente lo impide esto abarca parte del consentimiento informado, aunque es una situacion que puede poner en peligro la vida del paciente se debemos manejar la situacion de la mejor forma.

Las creencias religiosas forman parte del bienestar fisico y metal del paciente, puede decidir lo que se realizara sobre su cuerpo el bienestar fisiologico fisico y mental dependera de la ciencia pero para algunos tambien el involucrar la fe es primordial incluso muchas veces puede favorecer en la evolucion del paciente la espiritualidad contribuye a mejorar el estado de animo, el optimismo y esperanza de que vencerá la enfermedad.

Cuando el paciente lo desee podra ser autorizado a recibir la visita religiosa siempre y cuando teniendo en cuenta las medidas de proteccion necesarias al entrar a la habitacion, el personal de enfermeria puede involucrarse durante la actividad si asi lo desea de lo contrario no se encuentra dentro de sus obligaciones.
