Publiqué una investigación, en parte, por la influencia del ecosistema Hive - I published an investigation, in part, because of the influence of the Hive ecosystem.
Cuando investigaba, con el propósito de publicar en alguna revista científica, siempre lo hacía en el área de alimentos. Cuando me inicié en las redes sociales del ecosistema Hive hace más de tres años y medio escribía sobre alimentos, e incluso hice entradas sobre algunas de mis publicaciones en revistas científicas.
When I did research, with the purpose of publishing in a scientific journal, I always did it in the area of food. When I started in the social networks of the Hive ecosystem more than three and a half years ago, I wrote about food, and even made posts about some of my publications in scientific journals.
Por lo general publicaba en la comunidad @cervantes con el equipo @ramonycajal y la comunidad @stemsocial (@steemstem) y su subcomunidad @stem-espanol. Publicar en esas comunidades hizo que con frecuencia leyera las considerables entradas de gran cantidad de usuarios que generaban información científica en diversas áreas.
I usually posted in the @cervantes community with the @ramonycajal team and the @stemsocial community (@steemstem) and its subcommunity @stem-espanol. Posting in these communities meant that I frequently read the considerable posts from a large number of users who generated scientific information in various areas.
Esa diversidad de información científica ocasionó que naciera en mí una tendencia para escribir entradas en nuevas facetas científicas no relacionadas con alimentos, y aunque aún escribo sobre alimentos, me he inclinado mucho a escribir sobre especies de animales y plantas. Uno de los usuarios que más ha influido en mi tendencia es @abneagro con sus entradas relacionadas con artrópodos, también la Revista Cervantes Ciencia, porque gracias a la invitación de su editora @alexaivytorres, para que escribiera en la revista, frecuentemente reviso en la literatura científica sobre artrópodos y otro temas. Para escribir sobre plantas influyó @lupafilotaxia.
That diversity of scientific information caused me to develop a tendency to write posts on new scientific facets unrelated to food, and although I still write about food, I have become much more inclined to write about animal and plant species. One of the users that has most influenced my tendency is @abneagro with his posts related to arthropods, also Revista Cervantes Ciencia, because thanks to the invitation of its editor @alexaivytorres, to write in the revista (magazine), I frequently review in the scientific literature on arthropods and other topics. I was influenced to write about plants by @lupafilotaxia.
Siempre ando con mi cámara fotográfica recorriendo montañas, parques urbanos e incluso explorando en el patio delantero de mi casa que es grande. En el techo de mi casa tengo madera almacenada y en una viga de madera seca se encuentra un nido de abejas carpinteras (género Xylocopa sp.). Sobre esas abejas he escrito varias veces en Hive porque visito el nido con frecuencia. En una oportunidad visitando el nido avisté la presencia de tres escarabajos y una masa de huevos cerca de la entrada del nido y les capturé fotografías.
I always walk around with my camera hiking mountains, urban parks and even exploring in the front yard of my house, which is large. On the roof of my house I have stored wood and on a dry wood beam is a nest of carpenter bees (genus Xylocopa sp.). I have written about these bees several times in Hive because I visit the nest frequently. On one occasion while visiting the nest I spotted three beetles and an egg mass near the nest entrance and captured photographs of them.
Cuando descargaba las fotografías en la computadora pensé que podía hacer una publicación científica para someterla a evaluación en una revista científica, y en tal sentido me dije a mí mismo, voy a hacer un seguimiento a los huevos eclosionando y a lo que hacen los escarabajos. Inicialmente conté los huevos que se veían superficialmente con una herramienta de Photoshop®, también con una técnica digital empleando herramientas de diseño gráfico calculé un aproximado de la cantidad total de huevos.
As I downloaded the photographs to the computer I thought I could make a scientific publication to submit for evaluation in a scientific journal, and so I said to myself, I am going to follow up on the hatching eggs and what the beetles are doing. Initially I counted the eggs that were superficially visible with a Photoshop® tool, also with a digital technique using graphic design tools I calculated an approximate total number of eggs.

Every day I checked the hatchings and made a slit in the egg mass to measure some of them.
Fundamentalmente, hice el trabajo basándome en lo que observaba, lo preparé para someterlo a evaluación en una revista científica, y luego del proceso de evaluación, me lo publicaron el 6 de enero de 2023.
Basically, I did the work based on what I observed, prepared it for submission to a scientific journal, and after the evaluation process, it was published on January 6, 2023.
El que me publicaran esa investigación fue debido, en parte, a las comunidades @cervantes (equipo @ramonycajal) y @stemsocial (subcomunidad @stem-espanol), por el impulso que me dieron para explorar en nuevas facetas científicas la aplicación de la metodología de la investigación, y así lo hice saber en el agradecimiento del trabajo.
The fact that this research was published was due, in part, to the @cervantes (@ramonycajal team) and @stemsocial (@stem-espanol subcommunity) communities, for the impulse they gave me to explore in new scientific facets the application of research methodology, and I made this known in the acknowledgment of the work.
