Fly of the genus Morellia
A beautiful fly rests calmly upon a blade of grass, perhaps taking a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of its life. It belongs to the genus Morellia, a type of stout-bodied fly within the Muscidae family. Though tiny in size, its body appears plump and fleshy suggesting a diet of rich, delicious meals.
Its body is adorned with a lovely color scheme, blending gray with deep black. Large red eyes further enhance its striking appearance. Fine hairs cover its entire body, while its clear wings feature beautiful linear patterns that shimmer exquisitely when catching the sunlight. Its legs and tiny antennae are a deep, solid black.
Despite its beauty, the fly rarely receives praise, as many people view it as a repulsive creature. Fly are often disliked because they frequent garbage and feed on decaying matter. Yet, the role they play is actually vital to the ecosystem, they help decompose organic remains, allowing nutrients to return to the soil.
