I marvel sometimes at the way evolution works. Take the duck in this picture for example, every color, every stripe, and contour is there because of a Darwinian process of selection that made it advantageous for his species to survive and transmit genetic traits into the future. Little by little, mutation by mutation, his lineage has been modified throughout the ages in the ceaseless evolutionary process of natural selection. It's easy to forget that evolution is happening as we speak. It's not just some theory in an esoteric tome. It's an active process that has not come to an end just yet! It goes on and on until further notice.

What will ducks look like millions of years from now? I wonder.

Scientists say that 65 million years ago, our ancestors looked like this:

So maybe ducks in their current form will disappear and will be replaced by a more hominid-looking species. Or maybe they'll turn back into dinosaurs :)
