Amazing Nature: Various Kinds of Sumatran Butterflies
The Sumatran forests are home to a wide variety of butterflies and other biological life. Here are some images that I captured on one occasion while I was in the Saweuk forest zone in the North Aceh district.
The common pierrot, or Castalius rosimon, is a species of small butterfly belonging to the family Lycaenidae. The butterfly's physical features include a white hairy face, black eyes, and white wings with pale black dots. Unfortunately, I was unable to catch the upper side of the wing, which piqued my curiosity about how it would appear.
Watch her! She's shyly peeking out from behind a leaf. Its scientific name is Chersonesia risa, and it is one of the Nymphalidae family's butterfly species. This butterfly is also known as the maplet. The butterfly has an orange and hairy face, pale green eyes, and pale orange wings with black stripes.
I think that this is a Nymphalidae butterfly species called the marbled map, or Cyrestis cocles. A peculiar butterfly enjoys being in muddy areas and believes that it sucks mud there. Of course, only he could tell how the mud tasted.
