Self-reflection Sunday's, in a Haze

Mulling over movies eight days ago led to an idea. Are box office revenues key in the indication of a film's performance? Without a detailed exploration into variables, the conversation lacks context. People want to watch 'good' movies. They seldom like investing time into 'bad' ones. Too many variables could spoil the research, leading us down so many rabbit holes, it might be more appropriate to call it an underground colony.

Various Variables

A focus on box office revenues, genres and year of production could frame the research well. For instance, the year of the production might frame the economic situation or expectation around the film. Observations might surround M&A of production companies and the deals over intellectual property.

The most popular movie genres in the United States and Canada from 1995 to 2022, by average box office revenue might not surprise you. Adventure flicks grossed on average 57 million dollars. Documentaries, by contrast, only made about a million.

Genres also speak to the tastes and preferences of audience members. The first post talked about the effect of realism on reviews.

Do true stories make money? As much as tall tales?

Horror movies might make more during the month of October. While the cast serves as an interesting variable, with as many actors are there films to figure out, trends might form on their own as long as we maintain constants. Genres serve as they categorize films. However, some films might exist beyond categories.

In addition, trends might appear between directors as the results of cinematic pieces span the years.

Revenues and their multiples are the independent variable, a result of many working pieces. We focus on genre and year to give readers at home a better idea of what's worth watching.

Are these even German @felixxx? Anyone else, think these will make a good movie snack?

Just Saw Jumper (2008)

This movie made $225 million, at the box office, by the way.

I planned to go into riveting detail about the feature here, but ultimately, it would make this particular share a movie review, fit for a different community. So to keep it brief, I make this abbreviated list of info:

  • It was quite cinematic. From Tokyo to the pyramids, we jumped all over the place.
  • The source material based off a 1993 sci-fi novel gave the film interesting logic.
  • Disagreeable at times, we took a comic-book style protagonist and kept it adolescent and aspirational. Take charge of your lives. Even if you don't have the ability to teleport.
  • We saw an all star cast! Samuel L. Jackson embodied the no-nonsense, killer archetype. I'm also certain we saw Anakin from Star Wars?
  • With 225 mil in revenue and a budget of 85, we saw an earnings multiple of 2.64.
  • My conclusion? To watch or not; watch it. And if you don't like it, hop off.

In truth, I'm here to reflect on the week and shift into the next so I'm ending by

Practice in other mediums makes a therapeutic and thoughtful exercise. I encourage it.

Focusing on Freelance.

AI as an auxiliary support, ChatGPT and all that other stuff is quite helpful. I don't enjoy proofreading, for example, and I don't always have my girlfriend to read my work before posts. It's not always easy to decide on topics to explore next either.

I want to emphasize before I move forward. I do not write using artificial intelligence.

I have plenty of natural intelligence right here. I paid an exorbitant sum for higher education and I would not any appreciate any insulations I do not leverage it each time I produce any content.

Without stepping too far down an unrelated tangent, the following bullets sum up my thoughts about my freelance journey as of late. I'm also happy to report that I am on the team that submitted a proposal to develop a public health app with Covid information for the city government. We find out this week whether we successfully earned the gig.

Otherwise,

  • my consumer profiles need work; Reading Ryan wasn't ready
    • Is there a market for curated lists and experiences?
  • Product interview questions are on-the-way.
  • I also asked GPT how I might make user-friendly landing page for a photographer. In all seriousness, I'm using it the way people feel Google should work. Input a question and depending on the clarity of the request, you get specific and actionable recommendations!

I mean, I had no idea that minerals could leave discoloration on my shower floors. And, I don't need money or fancy cleaning supplies, a white vinegar and water solution should clean it right up! Thanks, ChatGPT!

I'm excited to improve the consumer profiles to produce general product questions to survey potential users of my services. Once I determine whether or not my solutions really serve the larger populace in my city, I can run straight to crafting a landing page, using a cheap site builder. I'm thinkin' of squarespace, since I'm tired of GoDaddy. Equally exciting, the brand asset commission I requested looks beautiful. My newly illustrated logo on the landing page following the meticulous formation of real consumer profiles should really catch attention and experience strong demand.

So, I'm exploring new details about content, its curation and the associated cost of creation. While it might sound like an elaborate excuse to watch movies, how we spend our time creates larger implications that I'm fairly certain people would pay to resolve. We'll see. And lastly, freelance is starting to feel fun again, with the help of an even stronger network all made possible thanks to my ties to web3.

Why was I in a haze, you ask?

Blame @derangedvisions and all his herbalism posts.

I fully agree! It can give us insight into what we "know" by uncovering just how much we don't actually realize :)

You'd mentioned this before in some other posts, but it didn't quite settle in, what you meant until I tried 'capturing' these two water bottles.

You're a smart cookie.
