Hello @beeber, I completely agree, but I am going to tell you something that we, Venezuelans, experienced about 3 years ago. Our electrical system failed and the country was almost completely cut off. We spent several days cooking with firewood and lighting ourselves at night with candlelight or improvised kerosene lamps. It was very uncomfortable because dad, who was still alive, was sick, under the care of mom, who was also elderly. There are people who had an even worse time, some who lived in apartments had to carry water, climbing several floors.
I understand the communication crisis we have for paying too much attention to modern devices. I have enjoyed those moments without power and internet talking with family and friends face to face, also admiring nature without the buzz of electrical appliances and music at full volume. But we are too used to modernity and unfortunately cannot go back, at least not yet.

Hi @elentogether of course you are right and I also see this. Sorry for your dad. Here in winter we would have huge problems only for 1 day missing electricity. But this is the reason why we should change something, to not be so helpless in this case, we really should find other ways to live in a way not depending on it.
At least the most resources and electricity on earth still is wasted for things nobody really needs.
Thank you for stopping by :-)
