The coolest mates [ENG-ESP]
About 4 months ago I bought my new 3D printer a CR10-V3 and one of the works that I carried out with my new machine were these Art-Due mattes. Why do they have this name? Well, mainly because of the material with which they are made as it is composed of two colors that generate a random gradient throughout the piece, creating unique and unrepeatable patterns.

Bueno principalmente por el material con el cual están fabricados ya que este compuesto por dos colores que generan un degradado aleatorio a lo largo de toda la pieza, creando patrones únicos e irrepetibles.
A client had seen the characters I was creating before, but he wanted something more geometric, some pattern on his matte, so after searching the internet, consulting with colleagues and friends I got two models. One called geometric diamond pattern and the other one consists of scales, similar to a dragon's egg.

To start the work I bought two PLA Art- Due blue and silver color, the other one was red and blue. This material is not cheap, the 250 grams of filament cost about $1300 about 6.5 dollars in my country and to give you an idea that is the price of a kilo of material that I buy, so there is a notable difference in price, although clearly this material is made for specific artistic uses. After obtaining the STLs I proceeded to configure them in the Cura slicer.

I configured the mattes with a layer height of 0.28 so that they would not take so long, two perimeters for good resistance, a 15% filling and an average printing speed of 40 or 45mm/s so that the surface finish would be perfect. Each matte took about 8 to 10 hours of maximum printing and they came out perfectly well, I could not afford any failure since I had little material and it had been very expensive.

Cada mate tardo unas 8 o 10 horas de impresión máximas y salieron perfectamente bien, no podía darme el lujo de ningún fallo ya que tenía poco material y me había salido muy caro.
Once I had the three gourds I proceeded to place the black polymer, I am not sure what its technical name is but this material allows to place the hot water and the yerba mate inside the container and it is suitable for human consumption. I attached it to the main body using glue and after placing it I did a little force to fix it well so that it would not come out. The designer of these gourds did a great job with the tolerances as the polymers fit perfectly.
Una vez tuve los tres mates procedí a colocar el polímero negro, no estoy muy seguro cual es su nombre técnico pero este material permite colocar el agua caliente y la yerba mate dentro del contenedor y es apto para el consumo humano. Lo uní al cuerpo principal usando pegamento y tras colocarlo hice un poco de fuerza para fijarlo bien y que no se saliera. El diseñador de estos mates hizo un gran trabajo con las tolerancias ya que los polímeros entraron perfectamente.

To the touch the matte felt very good and I could appreciate the color degradation, I wanted to use this type of filament for a long time since I had invested in it but I had not found the opportunity to use it in any of my products. I hope soon to be able to use the PLA Art-Due to create a super hero figure or something of that style as I think that fantastic things could be achieved.
Al tacto los mates se sentían muy bien y podía apreciarse el degrade de colores, hace tiempo quería estrenar este tipo de filamento ya que había invertido en el pero no había encontrado la oportunidad de usarlo en alguno de mis productos. Espero próximamente poder usar el PLA Art-Due para crear alguna figura de super héroe o algo de ese estilo ya que creo que podrían lograrse cosas fantásticas.

Por suerte si, el cliente quedo muy contento y a mi me sirvió para poner estos mates en el catalogo.
Este tipo de trabajos es muy interesante, casi diría que no hay límites en la capacidad de crear. Recuerda un poco a las máquinas impresoras de objetos, que veía de la serie viaje a las estrellas.
