A few weeks ago I started studying again and as it is the first weeks of class I still have time so I decided to bring this work that caught my attention.
Ya hace unas semanas comencé nuevamente a cursar y como son las primeras semanas de clase todavía cuento con tiempo así que decidí traer este trabajo que me llamo la atención.
The work consisted of developing a product that could assist people at home in case of an accident, this product had to be manufactured with a 3D printer. The creator of this design decided to assist people who get dust or any debris in the eye, this piece is screwed into a water bottle the user grabs it and close to his eye to throw water in a localized way in the eye in this way can be cleaned and lubricated avoiding rubbing with the hand thus causing more problems in the future.
El trabajo consistía en desarrollar un producto que pudiera asistir a las personas en su hogar frente a un accidente, este producto tenía que poder fabricarse con una impresora 3D. El creador de este diseño decidió asistir a personas que le entrara polvo o alguna basura al ojo, esta pieza se enrosca en una botella de agua el usuario la agarra y la cerca a su ojo para tirar agua de forma localizada en el ojo de esta forma se puede limpiar y lubricar evitando refregarse con la mano provocando así más problemas a futuro.

It seems to me a simple idea but well solved in if the product has three parts mainly and apart from the bottle where it screws. There is the blue outer shell that contains the thread and some low reliefs to place some labels, then there is a white center piece with four holes that allow the passage of water into the bottle. This piece had its level of difficulty at the time of printing, but an optimal result was achieved.

Esta el armazón exterior azul que contiene la rosca y unos bajos relieves para colocar unas etiquetas, después hay una pieza central blanca con cuatro agujeros que permiten el paso del agua hacia la botella. Esta pieza tenía su nivel de dificultad a la hora de imprimirla, pero se logró un resultado optimo.
Finally in the part that is in contact with the eye there is a ring printed in flex material was decided to use that material because being flexible it adapts better to the contours of the face and is softer. The last thing you want in an emergency situation in this serious case is to damage yourself with the product that you are going to use to assist you, which I thought was a great decision. The problem of this white piece was given by the double curvature that had, but after two attempts of printing I achieved an optimal finish with which I was satisfied.
Para finalizar en la parte que está en contacto con el ojo hay un aro impreso en material flex se decidió usar ese material ya que al ser flexible se adapta mejor al contorno de la cara y es más blando. Lo que menos se desea en una situación de emergencia en seste caso serio dañarse con el producto que vas a usar para asistirte lo que me pareció una gran decisión. El problema de esta pieza blanca estaba dado por la doble curvatura que tenía, pero luego de dos intentos de impresión logre un acabado optimo con el que me quede conforme.
My fear when printing the big blue piece, let's call it the main body, was the bas reliefs and the text with the logo that had been placed. I needed it to come out with a great final finish and that these details were noticeable so I set up the piece in my CURA SLICER laminator with a layer height of 0.2 so it would have a good definition, a slow speed especially on the walls of the piece so it would look great once it was finished. The piece took about 5 hours if I remember correctly, I removed the supports and verified that the finish was perfect. I was very satisfied so I took a lot of pictures to show you this work.
Mi miedo a la hora de imprimir la pieza grande azul, vamos a llamarlo cuerpo principal, eran los bajo relieves y el texto con el logo que habían colocado. Necesitaba que saliera con un gran acabado final y que se notasen estos detalles así que configure la pieza en mi laminador CURA SLICER con una altura de capa de 0.2 de esta forma tendría una buena definición, una velocidad lenta especialmente en las paredes de la pieza para que se viera genial una vez finalizada. La pieza tardo unas 5 horas si mal no recuerdo, retire los soportes y verifique que el acabado había quedado perfecto. Me quede muy conforme así que tome muchas fotos para poder mostrarles a ustedes este trabajo.
I love being able to do this kind of work for my colleagues, I like to be able to establish a dialogue with my client to know what he needs and guide him to get what he wants, a clear example of this is when I started the order my client showed me his idea at the beginning he had a complex pattern to make in the piece so I gave him recommendations so he could get it right. Also when reviewing the modeled parts before printing I found modeling errors, sometimes these are caused by open shims in the modeling or very thin thicknesses that the printer does not detect. In this case the problem was in the thickness, I told my client and he was able to solve it.
Me encanta poder realizar este tipo de trabajos para mis compañeros, me gusta poder entablar un dialogo con mi cliente para saber que necesita y guiarlo para que obtenga lo que quiere, un claro ejemplo de esto es cuando inicie el pedido mi cliente me mostro su idea al comienzo tenía un patrón complejo para realizar en la pieza así que le di recomendaciones para que pudiera salir bien. También al revisar las piezas modeladas antes de imprimir encontré errores de modelado, a veces estos se producen por mayas en el modelado que quedan abiertas o espesores muy finos que la impresora no detecta. En este caso el problema estuvo en el espesor, le avise a mi cliente y pudo solucionarlo.
It is always important to take some time to look at the incoming files because if you print and it goes wrong, even if it is the client's mistake, you should take responsibility for not having checked well and warned in advance.
Siempre es importante tomarse un tiempo para ver los archivos que llegan porque si imprimir y sale mal, aunque sea el error del cliente uno mismo debe hacerse cargo por no haber revisado bien y avisar con anterioridad.
After several years of working and taking orders, I learned to be attentive to details and to always provide the best service. On the one hand, I like to provide this quality as a supplier, but on the other hand I also feel the need to do it as a partner and as a person.
Luego de varios años de trabajar y tomar pedidos aprendí a estar atento a los detalles y a brindar siempre el mejor servicio. Por un lado, me gusta brindar esta calidad como proveedor, pero por otro también siento la necesidad de hacerlo como compañero y persona.

Seems this is a prototype for now and not yet available on the market.
I am in awe to your customer for thinking of such simple but useful idea. I, myself, never thought of that. 🙂
