EcoTrain QOTW #9.4: Can spirituality and technology coexist? (ENG/ESP)

Greetings to the readers of @EcoTrain, I tell you that when I saw the proposed topic for this week, my head began to spin to find an answer, because while it is true that technology makes life easier for us, it is important to note that we have to adapt to it. It all depends on us, we are spiritual beings living in a physical world in which technology is manifested in many aspects, and it is the attitude that we handle, which determines the conflict or harmony between them.

Reflecting on how we could have grown spiritually during the pandemic, in a circumstance that pushed us to believe and have faith to get out of a situation that shook us all worldwide, and in which we had the opportunity to be isolated for a while at home, to take advantage of that pause and internalize and get to know ourselves better; It also opened a great opportunity for globalization with technology, which has provided Internet users to find a large number of websites where they can access not only information, but interact with other people anywhere in the world, to perform different activities such as workshops, forums and tools that can be worked from any device. Being able to listen to meditations, mantras, having access to the messages of spiritual leaders according to the inclinations of each person, are positive aspects that allow us to expand the possibilities of growth. This tells us that virtual activities have definitely increased, even giving way to the creation of digital centers that replace physical centers. Digital commerce has also increased in the spiritual field with the creation of digital products, books and meetings.

The digital evolution is definitely in progress and touching the subject of the Metaverso being this a new concept catches my attention, because it is a virtual world where the bodily and physical limitations are overcome, is to connect to a device that makes us interact with each other in a virtual reality and in a parallel universe, it gives us opportunities but isolates us physically. Being able to attend a conference with thousands of people without moving from the country where you are for example or travel in a virtual world where you can do unthinkable activities that you can not do in real life, for those same physical, economic or political limitations. Everything points to the development of technology to deceive the senses, to have sensory experiences, to teleport like a hologram without the need to have physical contact with others.

However, meditating on a paradisiacal beach or in a beautiful field full of flowers, feeling the soft breeze, can awaken those sensations in us while we are at home or in the office, but it will not be the same as feeling it directly and connecting with real nature, breathing the pure air, feeling the sun's rays, our body being nourished and filled with the energy of the earth, the fresh water or the embrace with a loved one who shares those moments of pleasure. Making good use of what technology offers us is the challenge, because we do nothing if we do not internalize and do not connect with ourselves, but we put into practice that relationship with the other, with nature itself and everything around us, take advantage of opportunities and set limits.

Finally I believe that spirituality and technology can coexist, in both cases it is about evolution in our lives, each experience makes us grow, when we experience something new physically so does our spirit, it brings us a teaching, together they add up, transform and if they harmonize complementarily we can achieve a full life, full of peace and serenity. Not to close ourselves to conscious evolution is the task to contribute to a better world.

Saludos a los lectores de @EcoTrain, les comento que cuando vi el tema propuesto para esta semana, mi cabeza comenzó a dar vueltas para encontrar una respuesta, porque si bien es cierto que la tecnología nos facilita la vida, es importante destacar que tenemos que adaptarnos a ella. Todo depende de nosotros, somos seres espirituales que vivimos en un mundo físico en el cual la tecnología se encuentra manifestada en muchos aspectos, y es la actitud que manejemos, la que determine el conflicto o la armonía entre ellas.

Reflexionando de cómo pudimos haber crecido espiritualmente durante la pandemia, en una circunstancia que nos impulsó a creer y a tener fe para salir de una situación que nos sacudió a todos a nivel mundial, y en la que tuvimos la oportunidad de estar aislados por un tiempo en casa, para aprovechar esa pausa e internalizar y conocernos mejor; también nos abrió una gran oportunidad de globalización con la tecnología, que ha proporcionado a los internautas encontrar gran cantidad de sitios web donde pueden tener acceso no solo información, sino interactuar con otras personas en cualquier parte del mundo, a realizar diferentes actividades como talleres, foros y herramientas que se pueden trabajar desde cualquier dispositivo. El poder escuchar meditaciones, mantras, tener acceso a los mensajes de los líderes espirituales según las inclinaciones de cada quien, son aspectos positivos que permiten ampliar las posibilidades de crecer. Esto nos dice que definitivamente ha aumentado las actividades virtuales, dando paso incluso a la creación de centros digitales que sustituyen a los centros físicos. El comercio digital también se ha incrementado en el ámbito espiritual con la creación de productos digitales, libros y encuentros.

La evolución digital definitivamente va en progreso y tocar el tema del Metaverso siendo este un concepto nuevo atrapa mi atención, porque es un mundo virtual donde las limitaciones corporales y físicas son superadas, es conectarse a un dispositivo que nos haga interactuar entre nosotros en una realidad virtual y en un universo paralelo, nos da oportunidades pero nos aísla físicamente. Poder asistir a una conferencia con miles de personas sin moverse del país en que estés por ejemplo o viajar en un mundo virtual donde se pueden hacer actividades impensables que no puedes hacerlas en la vida real, por esas mismas limitaciones físicas, económicas o políticas. Todo apunta al desarrollo de tecnología para engañar los sentidos, tener experiencias sensoriales, teletransportarse como un holograma sin necesidad de tener contacto físico con otros.

Sin embargo lograr hacer una meditación en una playa paradisiaca o en un hermoso campo lleno de flores, sentir la brisa suave, puede despertar esas sensaciones en nosotros mientras estamos en casa o la oficina, pero no será lo mismo que sentirlo directamente y conectarnos con la naturaleza real, respirar el aire puro, sentir los rayos del sol, que nuestro cuerpo se alimente y llene de la energía de la tierra, el agua fresca o el abrazo con un ser querido que comparta esos momentos de placer. Hacer buen uso de lo que la tecnología nos ofrece es el reto, porque nada hacemos si no internalizamos y no nos conectamos con nosotros mismos, sino ponemos en práctica esa relación con el otro, con la misma naturaleza y todo lo que nos rodea, aprovechar las oportunidades y poner límites.

Finalmente considero que la espiritualidad y la tecnología pueden coexistir, en ambos casos se trata de evolución en nuestras vidas, cada experiencia nos hace crecer, cuando experimentamos algo nuevo físicamente también lo hace nuestro espíritu, nos trae una enseñanza, juntos suman, transforman y si se armonizan complementariamente se puede conseguir una vida plena, llena de paz y serenidad. No cerrarse a la evolución consciente es la tarea para contribuir a un mundo mejor.
