Question of the Week #9.4: Can Spirituality and Technology Live Together?

Yes I affirm to the fact that spirituality and technology can live together and this has been occuring for several decades and will still continue to stay together. Just imagine the digital Bibles used by preachers in their churches as well as the current satellite church using a recorder and a television for church services. Have you thought about a spiritual person without any communication gadgets such as a mobile phone, laptop and even a wristwatch. I think the answer is no. It takes only a spiritual man that wants to live in the stone age that'll believe that spirituality and technology can't live together. I'll want to use this medium to appreciate the Admin in person of @ecotrain for the good works you've been doing in this community week in week out, God whom you're glorifying will bless you. In this edition of the question of the week, I'll concentrate on three areas that spirituality and technology can not do without each other, they're: evangelism, traveling and digital banking.

• Evangelism
  Before our Lord Jesus Christ left the earth, he gave believers the mandate to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost - Mark 16:15. This mandate was first given to the Apostles but the reality of today this mandate can't be achieved without technological advancements. Just imagine preaching to a crowd of about 50k without a well organized sound systems. Our fathers preached with their natural voice in the 1950s, but that's no longer possible today. A spiritual man needs to reserve his strength of shouting for other things.

Preaching or evangelism today is no longer just two by two but online. Evangelism have been moved to the social medias: Tweeter, Facebook, instagram and Whatsapp. The social media currently takes more of the time of young people so the best way to evangelize them is to move to the social media. Remember they we're to preach first in Samaria and in all Judea and onto the hotter most part of the earth. How do you evangelize the hotter most part of the earth without technology.

• Traveling and Transportation
  Spirituality and technology meets in the process of traveling. The question I'll like to ask is, how many miles and kilometers can a spiritual man trek to do his job and fulfill kingdom mandates of preaching the gospel. Both the spiritual and canal man needs the car, motorcycle and even an airplane as means of transportation. Preachers who are considered most spiritually inclined uses these technologies on a daily basis. Benny Hinn and other great evangelists uses the airplane to travel for evangelistic outreaches all over the world. Are these preachers no longer spiritual or what has happened to their spirituality?

• Digital Banking
  The evolution of digital banking across the world has made transactions easier for people. Today one can totally avoid banking halls for bank transactions by using the banking Apps and other means like the Point of Sales (POS) outlets. Gone are the days when people save their money in pits and underground. Both spiritual and canal people use the banks, which is a product of technology. I thought spiritual people shouldn't use the banks or digital gadgets that comes with the banks.

I conclude by saying that to serve God effectively, we must utilize technological gadgets that'll aide the spreading of the gospel as well as improving our spiritual lives. Although, the use of technological gadgets have led some astray from their faith. But the overall truth is that man can't live without technology whether he's spiritual or not.
