I have long not carried a phone, and this is exactly why. I miss some calls, texts, and sometimes I am without a phone when I'd like to have one, such as when my car breaks down deep innawoods. But I can walk, and people can wait to talk to me. Those inconveniences are very minor compared to the freedom from surveillance I enjoy from not carrying my tracking device.

Seems to me that making a phone that could just make calls and text should be considerably less time and trouble than infesting one with spyware, but it seems that spyware pays so well, no one makes the cheap and spyware free phone. Given that Google free solutions are more expensive than spyware bloated phones, I have opted to save my money and risk having to walk a couple miles from time to time. Not carrying a phone at all is a strange option to be reduced to, given how phones have become ubiquitous, but I am not afraid of being different, and neither am interested in paying to be surveilled.
