I agree that it's a nuanced subject and a slippery slope in many ways...I'm not hard nosed about it, but I understand it's applications and the realities that come with it - just like with fiat money, it heavily relies on people buying into the idea of protection in the first place, to hold faith in it's final applications. It is also subjective too, and just like with everything else that is enforced through legislative procedure, it depends on the intent and who holds the power of control...which is where the main problem lies.

My patent comment was mostly satirical in nature, but similar rules apply to that imo. Patents can be a problem, because they are then used as the vehicle to enforce the copyright laws, which are both enforced and controlled to create censorship, through the copyright mafia.

Imo the biggest drawback, is that it stifles creativity.

I am by no means en expert on the subject:) Just some thoughts!
