Introduction to the fluid mechanics

avatar

Hi everyone. I hope you all are fine.
As in world there are vary large number of students especially engineering student as i have some information about the mechanical engineering i thought that in this quarantine i will give you all information about the fluid mechanics which is one of the important book for the civil as well as for mechanical engineering students. Firstly in this post i will give you introduction of the fluid mechanics. I hope you will gain a lot of information from my post.

what is fluid mechanics
Fluid mechanics is the branch of engineering or science which deals with the behavior of fluid in the static as well in dynamic conditions. As fluid is a substance which gets compressed continously under the action of force in fluid there are two types gases and liquids. There are three branches of fluid mechanics .
Fluid statics : this is the branch of fluid mechanics in which fluid is studied at the static position or at the rest.
Fluid kinamatics : it is the branch of fluid mechanics in which fluids which are in motion are studied but without condensing the forces which causes the motion to the fluid.
Fluid dynamics: it is the branch of fluid mechanics in which just like kinematics fluid in motion is studied but the forces which causing the motion are also studied.the effects of these forces upon the fluid elements are also studied.

Now we discuss about some important terms that will use every where in the fluid mechanics

what is density
Density is defined as the ratio of mass and the volume of the fluid in other words mass per volume is density . Different fluids have different densities. Liquids have higher density than the solids. The unit of density is kilogram per meter cube.
what is specific weight
Specific weight is defined as the ratio of weight of the fluid element to the volume of the fluid element. In other words weight per volume is specific weight . It is denoted by w and has unit newton per meter cube.

what is specific volume
It is defined as the ratio of volume of the fluid to the mass of the fluid. Specific volume is the reciprocal of the density and has unit meter cube per kg .it is denoted by v

what is specific gravity
Specific gravity is defined as the ratio of density of the fluid to the density of the standard. Specific gravity is used for checking the densities of the fluids. Standars are given as water for liquids and air for gases
