Where do we feel the spicy taste on the tongue?

Hello Steemian.
Cooking is a fun activity. I often cook with my wife and children. we want to teach them to make the kitchen a great place to establish togetherness. When cooking my wife tasted food.
Suddenly the youngest took a chilli and chewed a little. he feels the spiciness immediately mint drinking water to get rid of spicy.
I handed him a glass of water. He drank it quickly.
"Well, why when we bite the chillies our whole mouth feels like it's burning? Doesn't it like the sweet taste that tastes good on the tongue?"
"Put the glass first on the table," I said and then explained why our tongues are like burnt when eating chili.

H2> Spicy is not a taste
We can taste sensory nerves based on our tongue. we know there are sweet, bitter, salty and sour. All of these flavors have sensitive sensory nerves on the tongue.
However, often if someone is told to mention any taste, we will also mention spicy, besides sweet, salty, sour and bitter. In fact, the spicy taste is not including the taste. Spicy taste is just a sensation.
Of course we still remember the taste sensors that are on the tongue. There are parts of the tongue that are more sensitive to certain flavors than others. The sweet taste receptors are on the tip, salty on the side, acid on the edges, and bitter at the base. In the explanation we received at the school, there were no spicy taste receptors.
Spicy is a burning and burning sensation felt by the nerve endings of the tongue or better known as papillae. Spicy flavor itself is often caused by chili, caused by capsaicin compounds contained in chili.
Capsaicin compounds are associated with papillae anywhere on the tongue, do not have certain parts that are more sensitive. This is one of the conditions for scientists to categorize flavors, which have their own tongue receptors like other flavors.
Spicy taste cannot meet these criteria, so spicy is not a taste.
There are 3 criteria, namely in the form of taste must be directly recognizable, have its own tongue receptors like other tastes, and trigger certain physiological responses in the body.
Spicy is also not accepted by the brain as a taste like other flavors. Because when capsaicin has 'touched' papillae, the nerve will send signals to the brain in the form of pain signals, as if our tongue is on fire. Our brain catches pain just like the spicy taste we feel when eating chili is burning our tongue.
Spicy chili or pepper can easily be recognized, but the spicy taste has no receptors and does not have a certain physiological response to the body. Why? Because the receptors do not react to components like other tastes. The spicy sensation caused by the capsaicin compound is no different from the sensation when our skin is injured or burned.
The spicy taste damages all papillae affected by capcaisin. As a result we will only feel a sense of being very hot, sick and want to drink as much as possible.
When we eat spicy chili, our mouths will definitely open so it will spit out. This spit reduces the spicy taste. Spicy flavor can also be overcome by drinking milk. Can also with warm water. Warm water or warm milk will make numbness on the tongue reduced so that the spicy will gradually recover. Don't use cold water because it will make it more spicy.
Thus all my writing this time may useful for all of us.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoy it.
