Not only maths, unfortunately. Topics never covered in class nor matching even those few challenging extension type questions requiring creativity. And a lot of times being the final exam, among some countries it compromises the future career of the students forever. A lower score can forbid the participation at future public competitions or can forbid the access at the desired course in the university.

Some students choose not to go for certain careers or professions because of certain teachers, bad test experiences, etc.
I chose not to do engineering or physics as my physics teacher in high school was not good and the tests were not easy either.

Nah. Don't worry about it. I found out early on engineering not for me because of me not liking physics at that time.
