Step 1:- Importance of Farm Produce processing

Farm produce is usually processed for the following reasons:-

1. Processing of farm produce makes them ready for eating either directly or indirectly.

2. Processing of farm produce makes them better for usage.

3. Processing of farm produce removes poisonous substances from the raw farm produce.

4. Processed farm produce have better improved food and market values.

5. Processing farm produce enables the farm produce to be stored for a long period to time without spoiling.

6. Processing of food helps to get different varieties of foodstuffs from the same produce.

7. Processing of farm produce provides employment opportunities for people especially in the agro-allied industries.

8. Processing of farm produce makes transportation of processed farm produce easier since it requires less space. For example, processed yam flour has a reduced weight and volume than raw tubers of yam.
