SQL Server Reporting Service - How to Install SQL Server Reporting Services

In this post, we take a look at How to Install SQL Server Reporting Services on Windows. Previously I have covered few of the topics specific to the SQL Server. For example, I covered How to Install SQL Server 2019 on Windows. I also posted about CRUD Operations on SQL Server. Now those were the topics covered specific to the SQL Servers initial setup.

For importing the data I have previously covered How to Import CSV in SQL Server. Now we are going to take a look at some of the concepts like reporting service, print services and other data export tools specific content too.

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is going to be covered in this post. I have made visual presentation regarding how to install SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and how to get it to work for your simple operations. I have not covered the Visual Studio part here in the tutorial specific to the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Do note that this content is specific to the SQL Server Reporting Service. It is not about the Power BI reporting service. You may have to search for that differently. As this is specific to the data tools and the report builder specific content.

Below video is going to help you Install SQL Server Reporting Service. By the end of this video you would learn enough to get started with the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

SQL Server Reporting Service can be used to make various types of the reports. Like mobile reports, paginated reports and the web based reports too. So if you want to interface with the Visual Studio that would be possible too.

If you have downloaded the SQL Server Reporting Service and also the Visual Studio data tools already installed. You may also want to download the report builder tools. Those tools can make it easier for you to create reports. Also those reports can be exported or even used to send the emails through which you can get that data.

Report Builder is an interesting tool. So if you happen to need any such tool then maybe you should extend your research from that direction. Some of the time that sort of the direction may not always be what you want but it can turn your data into something meaningful.

Now comes the question, why would anyone needs the reporting and the visualized report? That is because not everybody is technical and people need to visualize the data in a simple format. Which makes it easy to view and process and only the important part is taken out of the same. So in that context you may have to learn to use Reporting service and Report Builder.

I wish I could cover the tools for the Visual Studio which makes it easy to make the reports and also the modules that can go for making the software which is easy to use for the reporting. You may want to do the google search and get the appropriate idea on that part.

Visual Studio Data tools is what I think would be worth exploring in context of the SQL Server and other data specific project creation. But for now. I am taking one step at a time and also the steps for the development of the server is an interesting one. So you should take things in that direction.

If you happen to like this content, do give me feedback over there and that would help me improve my efforts in near future.
