Game Development with RPGMaker MZ - Deployment of RPG Maker MZ Games

avatar

In this post, we are going to take a look at how to deploy RPG Maker MZ games. This platform could be Windows, Mac and the Linux. The game would have a windows executable and also the web based installation.

The web based export also allows you to get the setup towards the executable that can be done for the Apache Cordova and the Electron Builder. Both of them are good for the Android .apk files. And the Electron builder can allow you to do the export for the Windows and the Mac OS.

So how do you find the options for the RPG Maker MZ for the Windows deployment. Below image that you can see for the deployment.

You can find the deployment options from the File > Deployment. And the window that you see in the above image is what you get to see. You have noticed it has options - Windows, Mac OS and the Web browser.

Noticed that the web browser option has said the Android and iOS as well. These two options means that you have to use the Apache Cordova or the Electron Builder applications for exporting those web based output to the android .apk and the iOS app output.

You may not find much documentation on this part from the official site. But you can find a lot of forums and the blogs showing you the direction for this type of the game export for the android and iOS. So you have to think of those things for the app development or for the uploading the output to the respective app stores.

You can check out my RPG Maker MZ Basics Tutorial. This tutorial is under 20 minutes so you have a lot to learn and you can make the most out of it as you can try out with the default settings too.

As you know I have created various set of the tutorials on the Godot Engine and GDevelop. You can check out those tutorials here:

  1. Godot Engine YouTube Tutorial
  2. GDevelop YouTube Tutorial

In previous post, I explained the basics in the RPG Maker MZ. I hope to cover more of these tutorials in near future. I have been dabbling with the Godot Engine for the 3D work. But not a lot of output has been out on that regard.

I hope the current tutorial was useful to you.

We will continue the further game development topic in next post.

And to be honest, it seems to me that if you really want to develop your own game, and you want to do it efficiently, then it's better to turn to specialists who will take care of the development work. Personally, I began to think about creating my own game, and now I am consulting with these developers https://kevurugames.com/game-development/ on this issue.
