When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to have a teacher who believed in me and encouraged me to take a project-based approach to learning. I had always been a good student, but she saw something in me that led her to believe I was capable of more than I was giving myself credit for.
So, she set me up with a mentor and helped me design a project that would allow me to learn everything I wanted to know about a topic of my choice. I eventually decided to focus on learning about different cultures and religions.
The project took me about two years to complete, but it was an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also gained the confidence to pursue my interests and continue learning after high school.
