Energy education: Can oil companies create value today and prepare for the energy transition that is coming soon?

There is a current dilemma that revolves around the oil industry, the dilemma lies in the fact that there is a need for transformation towards a mode of energy generation that does not generate a considerable negative impact, on the other hand there is the reality of the current oil industry, which is gradually recovering due to the rise in oil prices.

These two scenarios mentioned above may result in two very important events within the current world energy context, under which the world oil industry can take advantage of the current finances to prepare for the moment when an energy transition is more reliably demanded.

¿How stakeholders respond to this context?

On the one hand, the financial community, i.e. investors are constantly pressuring oil companies to show results on how they are working towards the energy transition we are all waiting for.

On the other hand, the oil industry is constantly demanding that they need more capital investment to be able to sustain the current industry and work towards the energy transition.

It is important to be aware that being able to work on two simultaneous objectives is not an easy task, since being able to continue generating good results in current oil and gas production, while at the same time the oil industry is preparing for the energy transition that is very close to occurring, becomes a very ambitious but necessary challenge for humanity.

Conclusion

It is a race to the bottom that is happening under this scenario, although it may seem difficult and complex, I am completely sure that many companies in the oil sector are currently generating value and at the same time using resources of that value to prepare for the energy transition, perhaps those companies that lag behind and fail to accomplish both at the same time, will be among the companies that will disappear from the global energy scene in the future.
