We tend to think that scientists are people that lived long ago.  The fact is that scientist are part of our everyday life and they keep on discovering new things as technology gets better and they learn more about certain things.

A well known scientist of modern times is Stephen Hawking.

He was a theoretical physicist and was born in 1942.

Hawking has made many important contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity. He is also well known for his bestselling book ‘A Brief History of Time’.

He wrote a few books and even a book for children where he has put a lot of emphasis on Science.

George's Secret Key to the Universe is a 2007 children's book written by Lucy and Stephen Hawking with Christophe Galfard. The book was followed by four sequels, George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt in 2009, George and the Big Bang in 2011, George and the Unbreakable Code in 2014 and George and the Blue Moon in 2016.

Hawking put most of his efforts into exploring theories on black holes and learning more about it.

Hawking have received a few awards to honor his work, like the Einstein medal, the order of the British empire and the Wolf award for physics.

Even though Hawking is totally paralyzed from the disease 'amyotrophic lateral sclerosis', this did not stop him to use his brain for interesting discoveries in science.  He never felt sorry for himself or decided that because he is paralyzed he has no worth.

He showed us that no matter what your circumstances, you alone can decide what you are going to do with it - sit in a corner or rise to the occasion and be your own greatest self.
