Is NASA &SpaceX joking? Crewed mission postponed until the weekend due to bad weather...
Can weather delay a much awaited Space launch close to T-17mins?
Not just United State citizens were amazed and curious, but every science oriented individuals around the globe. We had something that took our minds off a global pandemic as we all sit and watch, some of us had to stream the NASA/SpaceX launch only to be postponed till weekend. As at 26mins to the launch, I was still online trying to be part of history till my internet became messy.
Well, its NASA and nobody dares questioned them. I think its more or a technical issue than a weather issue as SpaceX aimed to paint its name in the book of history as it was preparing to launch NASA Astronauts in space. This is a statement of their postponement below:
However, both agencies decided to postpone the launch to Saturday, May 30 due to bad weather. Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were scheduled to fly into space at 4.33 PM ET yesterday. However, 17 minutes before liftoff, officials informed them that the launch had to be called off. "We are not going to launch today." Due to the weather conditions, the launch is scrubbing
Space launches are very sensitive to weather, and the risks need to be taken seriously. This is not abnormal for a launch.
My take is, they cancelled it just 17mins to launch. I know for normal aeroplane flights, they must have detected bad weather for hours or even a day prior, so I'm wondering if the weather just became abnormal suddenly or they knew they ain't gonna launch that yesterday.
Rockets are just far more sensitive to weather so they have few opportunities to launch. They will keep a launch going even if they're not sure they can launch, and then decide close to last minute, because it is quite expensive to miss a good launch opportunity.
Well, this is an explanation I can reason with. I know Rockets and Space launch are damn too expensive, it could pay all my Country's Foreign debts...
This is also a big part of why Elon Musk's idea of international travel between cities using rockets is bone-headed and unrealistic.
I'm thinking there is a grandier plot to his idea(not sounding like a conspirator) but I read the people who invested in SpaceX(The Soros and all) and then I realised that rich people won't just invest in unrealistic ideas without something else in return.
