HE AND SHE AND HE IN THE LOVE OF COUPLE

Next in paragraphs 2, 5, 6 and 8 you will find the term "map" this refers to the "mental map" that we all have and with which we interpret reality, this mental map is formed in the process of socialization or rather in the process of social learning where we acquire the beliefs, values, attitudes, motivations in this case refers to the family especially mom and dad as a model of couple.

The search for love and the need to love in the human being are universal, we yearn for contact, belonging and accompaniment. These needs are in principle covered by the family (our parents) where we come from, but other needs of love arise, which gives way to the search for the partner with whom to form one's own family. We start to walk a path to calm loneliness and recover our belonging.

An unknown path that will be walked with what we have learned (the map) in the family, mom and dad, a legacy that we need to believe, even if the situation is different from what what we have learned. The eternal struggle between ideas about love and reality.

In personal relationships and specifically in the couple, we repeat the roles we use in relationships with our parents. Being obedient, such as achieving admiration and success, or being helpless victims, to save and care for others, or being strong and autonomous, to be decisive or to remain in doubt. A variety of ways that "help" us to access love, to be kind or worthy of love. And all this works, at least with our parents, because with them we learned to behave in this way.

When we go out into the world with what we have learned, even though we "do what needs to be done", we usually do not find what we are looking for. We confuse love with admiration, or with dependence or with control, we are left with the learned means to access love, without love. The emptiness continues but it is not easy to give up what we have internalized to what we have learned; because we know it, we do it well and it works, it entertains us and calms us, it gives us security. Although it distances us from ourselves and from others, we do not know how to continue. The map has failed us but there is no place in us to recognize it, we remain confused.

When we fall in love there is an emotional connection with the other, we tune into an emotional energy and experience a change in our life. We have desires and expectations regarding the person in front of us, whom we are still getting to know. We enjoy belonging and bonding. Everything is presented as if we have found what is indicated on the map. But we find it difficult to accept that falling in love is temporary and that discovering the other person as someone other than my projections is not a failure, it is simply reality imposing itself on the idea, it cannot be otherwise. This phase is wonderful and helps us to remember and recognize the bond we long for.

In the continuous real knowledge of the other, we sometimes unconsciously expect him or her to continue our bond with our parents: "to give me what they didn't give me", or "to give me the same thing they gave me". In any case, that it allows me to reproduce an old relational dynamic, typical of others: "that they take care of me because I didn't feel cared for", or "that they let me command because I never could", or "that there is no conflict because I already had too much", or often, "I want to find an unconditional bond like that of my parents", are all understandable and emotionally legitimate. But unreal.

The couple wants to impose their own relationship on others. The map notes guide us in one direction, but we do not find what we suppose there should be. The map fails again. We can blame the other for not being as it should be, or we can blame ourselves, but in truth there is no blame. Again, ideas versus reality. It is not easy to build a relationship "of one's own", because of the tendency to put past and alien things into the present and one's own.
