Circumference Dissected by the Diameter: Original Poetry, Digital Art, and Photo Essay
Circumference Dissected by the Diameter
psychic fracture
one foot mired in fugue
the mind myriad and partitioned
the circumference
dissected by the diameter
aren't you clever
figure, fugue, and figure
mad mathematician
pi split by anything
can be divided eternally
time to do nothing
instead hobble about
one foot
in diamond-studded cement
your head in coal black clouds
determine to change the world
viewed through your dirty spy lens
deeply perturbed
through pursed lips
you protest
armed with evidential parchment
a rotting tome of detritus
a worm-holed record of the past
scientifically supported
doomsday promises
act, figure, fugue, and act
a runaway greenhouse
now simmering in your blood
escape the heat
visit sites of ancient destruction
salvage anthropological feats
of the ancestors
of those you fight
entourage in tow
streams of pilgrims
bustling through the crowds
take a colonnaded walk
through arched porticoes
imagined gardens
of rubbled precincts
time to spring clean
the house of life
shut out insistence
bathe in the furious din
of squabbling gulls
and quayside mongers
the key
think nothing
allow
sit
restful in the folds
of your saffron robe
nap under a shady tree
visit the new palace
before walls manifest

I have dissected the words a hundred different ways and decided to take it home with me and take the whole thing apart.
I am fascinated by it.

Me too!
I cannot help it. Her words are so brilliantly placed and work well together, and yet, they each stand alone.
Haha ... thank you, Denise:) The short of it ... just breath short and deep:)

Words of wisdom woman!!!
Wondrous language, all of this. I tend to apply a lot of things to my primary concern right now, which is the degradation of what we know of as society, what we think of as normal. I got a sense of sinking in quicksand when I read your poem, which is quite a bit like how I feel about what is happening politically to the regular people now.
Then came the key, and I knew one answer for my pain.
Excellent poem, really really great.
Thank you, Owasco.
Yes, it hard to watch all the turmoil and division without losing one's center at times. I think now more than ever achieving harmony within one's self is paramount and then the way we things will shift just enough.
Well I aint even gonna lie, Im here for the pictures 😄
Haha ... they did turn out well. It was a very photogenic flower:)
