AI Smart Glasses
Years ago I watched a TV show called Person of Interest in which advanced AI surveillance was used to track down individuals to prevent crime.
This week I read about an Indiana company working on an app for leveraging Meta’s Smart glasses. Utilising OpenAI’s ChatGPT and facial recognition tech to provide users with a stunning amount of information about anyone a user looks at and cares to know about.
Kris Peterson, from the group that created the app, explained:
So, we all have a digital footprint, right? How good would it be if eventually, like there aren't secrets. Knowing who I'm talking to, knowing who I'm about to meet.

These tech geniuses are full of hopium about the future. Harnessing the collective mind and all that. Can they not see the dangers this type of technology will provide in a dystopia. Most of us recognise we are living in a dystopia already…
Currently you have to interface with your phone to get access, but surely as technology progresses it will simply be available on your glasses intereface.
The possibilities are far ranging. Pre-crime, like the TV show, dating, to suppress dissonant voices and artist, to make it harder to evade the authorities for whatever reason – such as journalists reporting on genocide. Or has person X had their vaccination, for example.
In our personal world, whereby our anonymity has been removed, and our ability to be an individual with rights as we instead blend into one authoritarian commune. I really don’t think this is what Marx and Engels had in mind.
The glasses are currently in roll out phase to a small village called Rabbit Hash, popn 200.
If people adopt this technology I fear it will be yet another step into how intrusive technology has become in our lives. Don’t forget how they surveillance us, and it’s all fed back into the panopticon.
Of course it must be recognised that it it the central authorities who hold, manipulate and present to you the data they deem acceptable. It is yet another way to manage your perceptions. No wonder lots of people feel they live in a simulation.
For now these glasses can be seen as a fun new way to engage with the world. There’s a long way to go with the development of this app but as the way with AI it works as we input data for it to study. Through using these apps they make their way into our lives.
It’s fair to say we are in an AI boom and there are lots of tech ideas out there looking for financing and development. Will it be followed by an AI bust? We shall have to wait and see. This particular project could sink to nowhere like so many AI tech projects do.
I can't think of a device I would rather not have.
Sounds to me these people need to elect a human mayor (they keep electing dogs for that position), who will fight for their rights to not be used in technological experiments. I wonder if they all get the lethal injections.
Hello my old friend. It should be called Guinea Pig's ville! Yes it just goes to see the state of American democracy they will vote anyone in.
