This is an acquisition that I had been wanting to do for a while, I wasn't planning to make a post about it, but as everything that happens to me becomes a peculiar experience, here we are haha.

As I've commented a few times, I don't have internet as such, I've always opted to use my phone's tethering via USB since my pc doesn't have a wi-fi antenna, and I've never quite liked having my phone connected 24/7, but I had no choice... UNTIL NOW.

While I was looking for an antenna on the internet, the prices were relatively similar within the generic antennas, there were some others of recognized brands such as TP-Link, but it was more expensive, OBVIOUSLY. Finally I found a store in my city where they had the antenna and so I didn't have to deal with the wait, for those who read my 3DS post, I went to look for the antenna that same day.

Mainly I got two types of antennas, the 300 mbps, and the 600 mbps, this only differentiates them in connection speed, none of them were Dual Band, so they only work with the frequency of 2.4 Ghz, in case someday I get to have an internet so fast as to occupy that 600 mbps limit, I decided to go for that antenna, it should be clarified that the warranty on these things works by factory defects, and if you want to replace the antenna it has to be the same day or at the latest the next day, as these days I have barely had time to see the light of day, I didn't have time to fix what happened to me later.

Moving on to the unboxing, the packaging is extremely basic and isn't sealed, it includes the antenna, the USB connector, and a driver disk, what I didn't expect is that when I held the antenna to move it a little, IT BROKE, literally a little piece of plastic that is responsible for giving maneuverability to the antenna opened and ended up coming off, which left the antenna loose and not in the default position of 90 degrees, despite the bad first impression, this is only a material detail, and if the antenna works well I wouldn't really care.

The second problem didn't take long to arrive, this time related to the drivers disk, which I insert in my disk drive, and start copying to the pc to make the installation more secure (it's something I usually do in case any error arises during the disk reading), and the transfer speed was SLOW AS FUCK, the disk content size was only about 150 mb, including two folders with drivers, one of those also had drivers for Android, Linux and Mac, but as I use Windows I'm not interested on that at the moment haha.

Anyway, I had to make several attempts thinking that maybe the disk was defective or my reader was passing to better life, finally I could copy the two folders and install the drivers, FINALLY, I connected the antenna and the magic was done, it worked, I honestly thought that to top it off the antenna would not work, but it connected to my phone without any problem, apart from detecting wifi networks that are relatively far away and with several walls in between, so that's not bad at all.

I've been using the antenna for several days, and so far I haven't experienced anything weird, no momentary disconnections or anything like that, when I connect it the pc detects it fast and also connects fast as soon as I turn on the mobile hotspot, so even though the antenna came apart in my hands, it works perfectly, I guess for 5$ you really aren't paying for good manufacturing materials, sincerely I don't know if the problem with the disk is general or it was my bad luck to buy something that was defective, if anyone has exactly the same antenna as me and can shed light on this matter, it will be appreciated.

Without much more to say, I hope the antenna doesn't explode right after writing this, it would be the last straw, I think it's better to invest a little more in an original product, this is a basic law, the higher the cost should be higher quality, but well, without much more to add, thanks for reading this far, I hope the post will be useful.

Esta es una adquisición que llevaba tiempo queriendo hacer, no pensaba hacer un post al respecto, pero como todo lo que me pasa a mí se convierte en una experiencia peculiar, aquí estamos haha.

Como he comentado algunas veces, yo como tal internet, no tengo, siempre he optado por compartir los datos móviles de mi teléfono via cable USB ya que mi pc no tiene antena de Wifi, y nunca me ha gustado del todo tener el teléfono conectado 24/7, pero no tenía otra alternativa… HASTA AHORA.

Mientras buscaba alguna antena por internet, los precios eran relativamente similares dentro de las antenas genéricas, había alguna que otra de marcas reconocidas como TP-Link, pero el precio ya aumentaba, OBVIAMENTE. Finalmente encontré una tienda en mi misma ciudad donde tenían la antena y así no tenía que lidiar con la espera, para los que leyeron mi post del 3DS, pues fui a buscar la antena ese mismo día.

Principalmente conseguí dos tipos de antenas, las de 300 mbps, y las de 600 mbps, esto solo las diferencia en velocidad de conexión, ninguna era Dual Band, así que solo funcionan con la frecuencia de 2.4 Ghz, por si algún día llego a tener un internet tan rápido como para ocupar ese límite de 600 mbps, decidí irme por esa antena, cabe aclarar que la garantía de estas cosas funciona por defectos de fábrica, y tenías que llevarla el mismo día o a más tardar el día siguiente, como estos días apenas he tenido tiempo de ver la luz del día, no tenía mucha solución para lo que me ocurrió después.

Pasando al unboxing, el empaque es extremadamente básico y no está sellado, incluye la antena, el conector USB, y un disco de drivers, lo que no me esperaba es que al sujetar la antena para moverla un poco, SE ME ROMPIÓ, literalmente un trocito de plástico que se encarga de darle maniobrabilidad a la antena se abrió y se terminó desprendiendo, lo cual dejaba floja la antena y no en la posición de 90 grados que viene por defecto, a pesar de la mala primera impresión, esto solo es un detalle material, y si la antena funciona bien poco me iba a importar realmente.

El segundo problema no tardó mucho en llegar, esta vez relacionado con el disco de drivers, el cual inserto en mi unidad de discos, y empiezo a copiar a la pc para que la instalación sea más segura (es algo que yo suelo hacer por si surge cualquier error durante la lectura del disco), y la velocidad de transferencia era INSUFRIBLEMENTE LENTA, el contenido del disco pesaba apenas unos 150 mb, incluída dos carpetas con drivers, una de esas tenía también drivers para Android, Linux y Mac, pero como yo utilizo Windows poco me interesa de momento haha.

De cualquier forma, tuve que hacer varios intentos pensando que quizá el disco estaba defectuoso o mi lectora estaba pasando a mejor vida, finalmente pude copiar las dos carpetas e instalar los drivers, FINALMENTE, conecté la antena y se hizo la magia, funcionaba, sinceramente pensé que para colmo la antena no funcionaría, pero se conectó a mi teléfono sin ningún problema, aparte de detectar redes wifi que están relativamente lejos y con varias paredes de por medio, así que eso no está nada mal.

He estado utilizando la antena durante varios días, y hasta ahora no he experimentado nada raro, ni desconexiones momentáneas ni nada por el estilo, al conectarla la pc la detecta rápido e igualmente se conecta rápido apenas encender el mobile hotspot, así que a pesar de que la antena se me desarmó en las manos, funciona perfectamente, supongo que por 5$ realmente no estás pagando por buenos materiales de fabricación, sinceramente desconozco si el problema con el disco es general o fue mi misma mala suerte de comprar algo que estaba defectuoso, si alguno tiene exactamente la misma antena que yo y puede dar luz en este asunto, agradecido será.

Sin mucho más que decir, espero que la antena no explote justo después de escribir esto, sería el colmo, creo que es mejor invertir un poco más en un producto original, esto es una ley básica, a mayor coste debería haber mayor calidad, pero bueno, sin mucho más que agregar, gracias por leer hasta aquí, espero el post les sea de utilidad.
