Super Mario 3D All Stars - Is it worth it? [ENG/ESP]

These last days I have decided to try all the Super Mario Bros. titles that I have at my fingertips, thus taking advantage of the current level of hype regarding the character thanks to the recent release of the animated film created by Illumination.

On this occasion, for this very reason, I wanted to try Super Mario 3D All Stars, a rather controversial compilation that was released a couple of years ago for the Nintendo Switch.

As its own name indicates, "3D All Stars" is a reference to Super Mario All Stars, a video game for the Super Nintendo that compiled an "updated" version of all the original games in the franchise is 8-Bits: Bros 1, 2 and 3, as well as the great addition of Super Mario World.

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the most beloved plumber in the world, Nintendo decided to create a similar compilation, following the same philosophy but applied this time to the most popular three-dimensional games of the character: Super Mario 64, Sunshine and the first installment of Galaxy.

3D All Stars was quite a controversial title, starting with the fact that it had a limited launch, and its official price was high for many... Nintendo is a company that is known for being very jealous with its games, and some like " Sunshine" had never had an official re-release since its release nearly 20 years ago.

However, this did not justify the high price tag, $60 for what were essentially outdated games with a couple of gameplay tweaks as well as a graphical rescaling to work properly in HD.

Unfortunately, despite the timelessness of the three games that feature 3D All Stars, it is difficult to defend the lack of content in the compilation, which apart from these three titles offers nothing more to the player than a couple of soundtracks for each of them.

What was stopping Nintendo from perhaps including the sequel to Mario Galaxy 2? Or why not, at least one iteration of the New saga for Wii and Wii U.

Super Mario 3D All Stars is a decent tribute, which allows us to enjoy several indisputable classics on one of the most beautiful consoles that Nintendo has created to date, and if you feel a lot of nostalgia for them, it is undeniably worth giving it a chance.

Logically, there were many better ways to approach a tribute from this type, especially if the objective was to give buyers incentives to get this collection.

There are few things to say about the games in particular, there is a level of visual timelessness in each of them that allows them to hold up very well over time (even those that have lasted a long time, like Mario 64), the control schemes are decent, And for those who didn't have the opportunity to experience them when they were released, perhaps this is a perfect excuse.

On the other hand, let's also recognize that apart from Sunshine, it is relatively easy to access the other games without having to pay an absurd amount of money, so it is up to each person what is the best way to proceed.

En esta ocasión, por esto mismo, quise probar Super Mario 3D All Stars, una recopilación bastante polémica que se estrenó hace un par de años para el nintendo Switch.

Cómo su propio nombre lo indica, "3D All Stars" es una referencia a Super Mario All Stars, un videojuego para la Super Nintendo que recopilaba una versión "actualizada" de todos los juegos originales de la franquicia es 8-Bits: Bros 1, 2 y 3, así como el genial añadido de Super Mario World.

Celebrando el aniversario número 35 del fontanero más querido de todo el mundo, Nintendo decidió crear una recopilación similar, siguiendo la misma filosofía pero aplicada está vez a los juegos en tres dimensiones mas populares del personaje: Super Mario 64, Sunshine y la primera entrega de Galaxy.

3D All Stars fue un título bastante polémico, empezando por el hecho de que tuvo un lanzamiento limitado, y su precio oficial era para muchos elevado... nintendo es una compañía que se caracteriza por ser muy celosa con sus juegos, y algunos como "Sunshine" nunca habían tenido un relanzamiento oficial desde sus estrenos hace casi 20 años.

No obstante, esto no justificaba el precio tan alto, 60 dólares por lo que esencialmente eran juegos obsoletos con un par de ajustes al gameplay así como un reescalado gráfico para que funcionaran correctamente en HD.

Lastimosamente, a pesar de la atemporalidad de los tres juegos que protagonizan 3D All Stars es difícil defender la escasez de contenido de la recopilación, que aparte de estos tres títulos no brinda más nada al jugador que un par de soundtracks correspondientes a cada uno de ellos.

¿Que detenía a Nintendo de incluir quizá la secuela a Mario Galaxy 2? O por qué no, al menos una iteración de la saga New para Wii y Wii U.

Super Mario 3D All Stars es un homenaje decente, que nos permite disfrutar varios clásicos indiscutibles en una de las consolas más hermosas que ha creado nintendo hasta la fecha, y si sientes mucha nostalgia por lo mismos, es innegable que vale la pena darle un chance.

Lógicamente, existían muchas formas mejores de abordar un homenaje desde este tipo, especialmente si el objetivo era darle incentivos a los compradores para hacerse con esta colección.

De los juegos en concreto existen pocas cosas que decir, hay un nivel de atemporalidad visual en cada uno de ellos que les permite sostenerse muy bien a través del tiempo (Incluso aquellos más longevos, como Mario 64), los esquemas de controles son decentes, y para aquellos que no tuvieron la oportunidad de experimentarlos cuando se estrenaron quizá está sea una escusa perfecta.

Por otro lado, también reconozcamos que aparte de Sunshine, es relativamente fácil acceder a los demás juegos sin tener que pagar una cantidad absurda de dinero, así que queda a criterio de cada quien cuál es la mejor forma de proceder.
