A cleaning more than necessary, with something never seen by me before

Greetings friends of the @geekzone community, this is my first post here and I wanted to bring you a maintenance I did for a family friend recently and that resulted in something more than curious, I hope you like it and without further ado let's go there.

All this about my history with maintenance began a few years ago when I was about 10/12 years old and I already had with me a pc with us in the family and since it had been bought it had never been serviced....

And that's when I started to investigate what was necessary for this and with a little fear I began to elaborate my first maintenance, thank God everything went well, although at first I did not turn on, but the beeps sounded that later I knew as RAM failures (that some is not well placed, that simply the same is not making good contact or that it is dirty both it and the socket where it goes).

After solving this and since then I was doing periodic maintenance to the pc of the house and with it to some pc's of family friends, friends, acquaintances and so ... For this post today I bring something that caught my attention and that was something that left me like WHAT!

Well everything was going normal, a friend of my mom called me telling me that she needed a maintenance on her PC and that the technician who was doing these things had gone to Peru and that well it was working a little slow and she felt that the pc was getting very hot, so I scheduled a day and went there on my bike (because yes, for when they are places close to my home I go by bike to repair or to do maintenance).

I arrived and everything was normal, she told me that her son wanted to talk to me to see what modifications could be done to turn it into a "PC Gamer" since he wanted to play some games and wanted to put lights and everything else and that he had bought a "powerful" graphics card at a good price (we will talk about it later) ....

One recommendation I told my mom's friend was not to leave it on the night before the maintenance, so that everything would be at a good temperature and I started with the process. When I uncovered the PC I realized something, right off the bat I could see that this machine had spent tireless hours working and had not had maintenance in at least 3 years... and when I asked her about the amount of time that it had not been maintained, my mom's friend told me that yes, it would be about 3/2 years or so that the machine had not been touched.

So you could notice how the CPU fan cooler was literally crammed with this layer of dense dust that looks like lint that formed on the gills of the same, this being the cause of generating so much heat and somehow lose performance, because, although the processor of the same was not a hot processor or high performance, (this if I remember correctly was a C2D E4600 775), which is not necessarily a beast processor but that performed well for the basic tasks that she elaborated.

And like all maintenance I do I take care first to disconnect everything and clear the area to apply air with a blower accompanied by a natural bristle brush to avoid a little static.

And when I start to see, I get the surprise of something ... the fan cooler was somewhat loose from one of the four fasteners, this can sometimes be that the "patica" is broken (as was the case), but it is nothing serious, as these are changed, or it can also happen that the pin has not been well placed and thus remains loose, so you should always be careful when installing.

Removing the fan cooler I got the big surprise and I found a piece of aluminum foil crushed between the processor (and thermal paste) and the fan cooler .... In my life I had never seen anything like this, so I deduce that the previous technician put this here instead of changing the fan cooler...

Something that left me crazy because in more than 10/12 years I had seen something like this and I have seen some crazy things, but nothing like this ... I proceeded to call my mom's friend to see this and told her what was happening, and that it would be advisable to change the fan cooler, so I told the son and he was looking for the center of the city without being able to find them.

So I decided to donate one of the ones I had at home from an old damaged 775 fan cooler that I had from a machine that I also did maintenance and that in part payment they left me that cooler, so at the end of the cleaning I had to go home quickly to find the leg and add it to the other fan cooler.

After having everything soon, after disassembling and cleaning everything, I decided to assemble to start with the next thing to do... Change of thermal paste, OS installation, which his son told me to install a Lite version of W7 and as you know the customer is always right hahaha.

These lite systems are not many saints of my devotion, but some of them like Doofy I have seen that they work well in old machines or of limited resources, so, although for my personal use I do not use it, I am not so against that if someone wants to use it he does it, even knowing that these are elaborated to work with a better performance than the "legal" versions.

The difference in my opinion is that these modified versions may have some flaws as far as security is concerned, because one does not know if in the end the person who elaborates it adds or modifies some values, but it is up to each one, my recommendation will always be original software with legal activation...

And whenever you want to install these versions "lite", "gaming" or any other modified version, be sure to download it directly from the blog or page of the person who creates it, so you will avoid any other version edited by someone other than the same developer.

Luckily I had this OS downloaded, since I had previously installed it on a cousin's PC (a canaimita, a mini laptops that the government gave to children and young people of school age) and in which I tested a little of its operation, so I knew that in this other pc it would work better.

Moving on to make a backup of the information to two pendrives so that mom's friend could work this from another pc at the time of me to do what related to the change of OS, while this happened I took the opportunity to do something, play the pinball that brought Windows XP and that is if I remember correctly from the 98 version of the Windows operating system.

Sorry to leave the story here, but it's too long to publish it in one post, and this way not to make it so difficult to process, I hope you understand. And that you accompany me on this journey where I found something crazy, but that was solved, as it should be and not with a botched job.

Thank you for reaching this part of my post a little long, but well detailed with part of this history of the maintenance of this pc, I do not leave without thanking you for your time and wishing you a happy day, afternoon or evening, see you soon with the continuation.

The photos of the post were captured with my Motorola E4 8Mpx and the one at the end, was elaborated by myself in Adobe Photoshop CS6.
