Review Who Is The Best For Music Streaming Apps
Hello everyone, if you have ever read one of my writings about TWS reviews in the geek zone community, I mentioned that determining the sound quality of earphones is also influenced by the quality of the music played. So it's useless if you have earphones with a price of tens of millions, but the quality of the music you listen to is still very low. That's why many audio enthusiasts use special audio devices to play the music they like. But I will not discuss it because it is still beyond my capacity and budget. Maybe I will learn about it one day and will also try it if I have enough budget.
Now I will discuss the applications that people most often use in playing the music they like. Those apps are Spotify, Tidal, and Deezer. Although there are many other music player applications, such as Joox, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, I can't use Apple Music and Amazon Music due to some limitations. I will only discuss these three applications, and this is due to the quality of the music provided. They have almost comparable.
Okay, let's get started.
The Interface Menus
In this section, we will discuss the appearance of the start menu of each application.
Spotify
Spotify has a very simple interface. It only has three menus at the bottom bar. The first is Home, the second is Search, and the third is Your Library. In the Home section, you can find the music that was last played, the music you like, and some music recommendations that are displayed based on the music we like, as well as some playlists that are mixed by Spotify based on the music we like and are played most often.
In the Search section, you can search based on the song's title or the artist you want to find. In this section, you can also search for music by genre, latest releases, charts, etc.
And in the last part, Your Library, here you can find playlists of songs you have created and some music you like.
Deezer
Next up is Deezer. Deezer has the same simple interface as Spotify, with four menus at the bottom bar. Namely, Music, Podcasts, Favourites, and the last one is Search. In the Music section, you can find your favourite artists, and then there are playlist recommendations made by Deezer based on the music we listen to and like. Deezer named it "Flow" this Flow is a recommendation that Deezer made for us, but uniquely Deezer divides the song based on our Mood, as you can see in the image below. In addition, in this section, Deezer also provides artist recommendations based on the artists we liked before, genre, top charts, new releases, and some recommendations available on Deezer.
Continue to the next menu, and there is a Podcast. Here you can find various podcasts organized into popular podcasts, categories podcast, editors loving, a podcast by duration, and podcast by a network.
You can find playlists, recently played, and music you like in the Favourites menu.
And the last one is Search. Here you can search music with Artist name or the tracks tittles. Also you can find your recent searches on this section.
Tidal
The third application is Tidal. Tidal has the most complex interface of the two previous applications. There are five menus at the bottom bar, namely Home, Videos, Search, My Activity, and the last is My Collection. In the Home section, almost the same as the previous two applications, in this section you can find recently played and some recommended playlists, artists, radio, and songs based on what you have listened to and liked.
In the next section, there are Videos, almost the same as the home section. Here are also recommendations. The only difference is that you can directly watch the video.
You can search for songs by artist or song title in the Search section. There are also music genres and several other additional menus in this section, as you can see in the picture.
In the My Activity section, you can see which artist's music you listen to the most.
And the last one is My Collection, which is almost the same as the previous two applications.
Music Player Interface
After finishing discussing what menus are presented in the three applications, now it's time to look at the music player interface of each application.
Spotify
Once again, Spotify chose to use a simple user interface. You can find the lyrics at the bottom (scroll down). Next to the shared logo, there is a menu with the 3-line logo, and there you can see the next song. And in the options menu (three dots above), you can find various kinds of information about the music you are playing and several options such as a sleep timer, go-to song radio, and others.
Deezer
Deezer has a neater music player interface than Spotify. As you can see in the picture, the music player becomes centered on one display. Under the album cover, you can find the like, option, and share buttons, followed by the play, pause, next, and previous song buttons below it. And below it again, there are other options like an audio setting, sleep timer, and the next song. It makes everything look neat and centered on one part, only on the bottom. Also, you can press on the album cover to bring it song lyrics.
Tidal
Unlike before, this time, Tidal has a pretty simple music player interface. Everything is centered on the bottom. Starting from left to right, at the bottom of the left, you can see a menu with a three-line logo, and there you can see what song will be played next. Then it is followed by a lyrics menu with a musical note logo with quotes. There are song recommendations with a musical note logo surrounded by a circle with dots, and the last is information about the song being played. At the top, you can see the music quality of the song being played, namely Master, and next to it, there is a menu with a speaker logo which means you can choose which music to play on which device.
The Setting Menus
In the settings section, you can see that Spotify is the most complex, and the most comfortable to look at is Deezer. Spotify places all the options in its settings section, while Deezer looks much tidier and is categorized by separate departments. Of course, this is an advantage for Deezer because we can focus on finding what settings we want to do based on each category. Unlike Spotify, sometimes, I have to scroll up or down to see the settings I want to make.
While Tidal, almost like Spotify, but Tidal has fewer options in the settings menu. And the drawback is that in the settings section, Tidal does not have the option to use the Equalizer. At the same time, Spotify and Deezer have EQ in the settings section. This EQ option is actually very crucial for some people because they can set the sound profile they want based on the genre of music they listen to. But I myself am the type of person who almost never uses an equalizer because I like to hear the distinctive and different sound profile of each earphone I review and own.
Sound Quality
Now, we will talk about audio quality, here is the data I was looking for directly from their official website.
Spotify
Desktop, mobile, and tablet
- Automatic: Dependent on your network connection
- Low: Equivalent to approximately 24kbit/s
- Normal: Equivalent to approximately 96kbit/s
- High: Equivalent to approximately 160kbit/s
- Very high: Equivalent to approximately 320kbit/s
source
Deezer
- Basic, 64 kbit/s, format mp3
- Standard, 128 kbit/s, format mp3
- High Quality, 320 kbit/s, format mp3
- High Fidelity, 1141 kbit/s, format FLAC
source
You can use High Fidelity audio quality if your subscription is Deezer HiFi and Deezer Family HiFi.
Tidal
TIDAL HiFi provides uncompressed lossless sound quality, streaming at 1411kbps or 16-Bit / 44.1 kHz. Master Quality audio reflects the original source and can stream up to 9216 kbps or 24-Bit / 192 kHz (typically 96 kHz / 24 bit).
source
So after looking at the data above, you can find out which of them has the best audio quality. And, of course, Tidal is the winner. With the best audio quality, you can listen to a different musical experience than before. However, you will use more data to stream the music using the best quality audio.
Pricing
After we discussed the interface display, the music player display, the settings menu, and audio quality, we finally came to the most crucial part, namely price. Of course, choosing the best online music player service comes back to the price offered. Of course, we agree with the concept that if there is a low price with the best quality, why not use it.
The Spotify Premium Individual service costs around $5 per month, while Deezer HiFi costs around $11 per month, and Tidal costs around $20 per month. Of course, the price of this service will vary according to the policies of each country.
The cost of a monthly subscription Tidal is the most expensive, even with the quality of the music offered. Because not all the music on Tidal has the quality of music with the title Master, only some music has this quality. I don't know why not all the music on Tidal has Master quality music. Even if the piece has been released for a long time or recently released, sometimes it still doesn't have Master quality. However, another advantage of Tidal is that it has a video player in its application.
Besides the relatively expensive, some songs are also not available on Tidal. For some newly released music, Tidal is quite late. Compared to Spotify, with the cheapest monthly service price, they offer quick music updates. Some new songs that have just been released are also directly available on Spotify. I think this is because, for the time, the Spotify service is the one that has the most users. Although Spotify's music quality is the lowest among all, this will save the amount of data used when streaming music. While Deezer is in the middle of it, the price is between Spotify and Tidal. Even the quality of the music is between them. Then Deezer is quite fast for updating songs, but it's not as quickly as Spotify, which immediately updates the latest music. The downside is that some songs on Deezer don't have lyrics, unlike Spotify and Tidal, where all songs have lyrics.
Conclusion
Spotify | Deezer | Tidal | |
---|---|---|---|
User Interface | Simpe | Simple | Complex |
Music Player Interface | Simple | Simple Centered | Simple Centered |
Podcast | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Settings Menu | Complex | Simple | Little bit Complex |
Music Quality | 320kbit/s | 1141kbit/s | 9216kbit/s (not all music) |
Equalizer | Yes | Yes | No |
Video Music Player | No | No | Yes |
Lyrics | Yes | Yes (but not all music) | Yes |
Pricing per Month | $5 | $11 | $20 |
So, in conclusion, Spotify is the winner of everything from its low service fees to its extensive playlists in the app. The latest songs will also be direct on Spotify, and Spotify has full lyrics. The quality of the music that Spotify has is already good. Most of us can't even hear the difference. Only the best earphones and some of the best audio equipment can clearly show the difference in quality. As for the video feature on Tidal, I don't think everyone will watch the video here.
So I will crown Spotify as the champion.
wow...this is so nice and long..keep up with the creativity
Here in Argentina Spotify price is around 1 Usd. Its happens very often with all the Apps.
