First of all, what is Lightning Network (LN)? LN is a peer-to-peer network conceived in 2016 as a second layer of the Bitcoin network we all know, but this was created to be used as a payment network, as we know, Bitcoin commissions are not entirely cheap and not very fast to say, for this LN was created to be a real alternative to traditional payment systems, that is, fast, reliable and economical, and this translates into transactions that are made in just a few seconds and with virtually minimal commissions, but not all wallets are compatible with this system, so let's review those with which we can use this incredible system.

Primeramente, ¿Qué es Lightning Network (LN)?, es una red entre pares concebida en 2016 como una segunda capa de la red que todos conocemos de Bitcoin, pero esta fue creada para ser utilizado como una red de pagos, como sabemos, las comisiones en Bitcoin, no son del todo baratas y tampoco muy rápidas que digamos, para esto se creó LN, para ser una alternativa real a los sistemas de pago tradicionales, es decir, rápida, confiable y económica, y esto se traduce en transacciones que se realizan en solo alguno segundos y con comisiones prácticamente mínimas, pero no todas las billeteras son compatibles con este sistema, por eso, vamos a repasar aquellas con la podemos utilizar este increíble sistema.

One of the newest and by far my favorite, Muun offers us the ability to store bitcoins both in the main network and in LN, the application is quite simple and intuitive, when opening the app we find two options "send" and "receive", as simple as that, this is only available for Android and iOS. A differential detail of this wallet is that it does not use the typical system of 12 or 24 words, instead it uses a multiple signature system, in this case, double signature, that is, one is given to you and the other is kept by Muun, and at the time of each transaction, both are required to confirm it, that is why, when opening the wallet for the first time, so much emphasis is placed on saving your key, it even has the ability to create an encrypted emergency kit, as they themselves call it, with both signatures in case Muun itself disappears.

Una de las más nuevas y de lejos mi favorita, Muun nos ofrece la capacidad de almacenar bitcoins tanto en la red principal como en LN, la aplicación es bastante sencilla en intuitiva, al abrir la app nos encontramos dos opciones “enviar” y “recibir”, así de simple, esta está disponible únicamente para Android e iOS. Un detalle diferencial de esta billetera es que no utiliza el típico sistema de 12 o 24 palabras, en cambio utiliza un sistema de múltiple firma, en este caso, de doble firma, es decir, una se te entrega a ti y la otra la conserva Muun, y a la hora de cada transacción, se requiere de ambas para poder confirmarla, por eso, al abrir la billetera por primera vez, se hace tanto hincapié en guardar tu llave, incluso tiene la posibilidad de crear un kit de emergencia encriptado, como ellos mismos lo llaman, con ambas firmas en caso de que la propia Muun desaparezca.

This is another very popular alternative within the Bitcoin ecosystem, in this case we find an open source wallet, which in turn does not allow us to use 4 types of wallets, one Bitcoin in the main network, another LN, a read-only wallet, ie one in which we can only see its contents but not make any kind of movement, unless we enter our private key of course, and finally, a vault wallet, which uses a system of multiple signatures to give us more security. In the rest of the options is quite similar to what we are used to, we can create invoices in the form of the typical QR codes, where we can add the amount we are going to receive and the other party will only have to scan the QR and sign the transaction, in this case we have it available on Android, iOS and macOS.

Esta es otra alternativa muy popular dentro del ecosistema Bitcoin, en este caso nos encontramos con una billetera open source, que a su vez no permite utilizar 4 tipos de billeteras, una de Bitcoin en el red principal, otra de LN, una billetera de solo lectura, es decir, una en la que solo podremos ver su contenido pero no hacer ningún tipo de movimiento, a menos que ingresemos nuestra llave privada por supuesto, y por último, una billetera tipo bóveda, que utiliza un sistema de múltiples firmas para otorgarnos más seguridad. En el resto de las opciones es bastante parecida a lo que estamos acostumbrados, podremos crear facturas en forma de los típicos códigos QR, donde podremos agregar el monto que vamos a recibir y la otra parte sólo tendrá que escanear el QR y firmar la transacción, en este caso la tenemos disponibles en Android, iOS y macOS.
