Recuerdos y opinion de uno de mis juegos favoritos - Metal Gear Solid | Memories and opinion of one of my favorite games - Metal Gear Solid (ESP/ENG)

We all have video games that marked us at the time, for different reasons, often because it was our first video game of a certain console, possibly in which we released our new console, because that game accompanied us at certain times of our life and we spent a few hours of vice or because we simply loved its gameplay, history or simply for its graphics, simply become games that despite the time that passes we remember with great enthusiasm, often even overvalue the game, by what many call "nostalgia factor" and end up being our favorites and that by the memories that brings us consider it irreplaceable.

But I think that sometimes the fact that we really like a saga of video games for example prevents us from giving a chance to another saga of games by comparisons with our favorite or sometimes we like some specific genres of video games, such as action-adventure, platformers, rpg, in my particular case I never liked RPG's of any kind, I was always more inclined to play action-adventure games (Uncharted, Resident Evil 4,) Survival Horror genre (Resident Evil and recently the Silent Hill saga), however, I tried Chrono Trigger on the PS1 and I loved it, far from that I don't remember another RPG that I liked like that until today, the same happened with the stealth genre, infiltration games never caught my attention until a couple of years ago, when I tried the first Metal Gear Solid, and I have to say that my tastes and expectations for this style of game changed drastically with this game which unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to play until 2 years ago on PSVita, in its HD Collection delivery, and I must say that I was surprised in almost all its sections.

The first thing I liked and that is already a hallmark of the saga is the cinematic vision that has the game, the narrative is one of the strengths of this saga and the first is a clear example of this, the whole plot is composed of themes ranging from betrayal, the duty of a soldier, loyalty, global conflicts, but that's just the tip of the iceberg, the game goes further and explores issues such as the consequences of war, how self-destructive can be human beings, and does not make you believe, or see at any time, that you are the classic hero of the story, here Snake is aware that he is no hero, and that killing an enemy soldier by more enemy that is and for whatever reason does not justify the means, Snake is a soldier who follows orders, but has his honest opinion of the acts he commits and that is not the good, the plot of the game is a cliché and a tribute to the old action movies full of cinematic sequences in much of the campaign, long codec conversations with our superiors and / or allies, Snake is an advanced soldier considered one of the best in his field so much that even the enemies respect them and know about him, is a plot that has everything to hook you, surprising plot twists, well done story with memorable characters, from the allies, the protagonist and even to the enemies has so much charisma that we will get to feel bad finishing with some of them, because as Snake says, "I think the only downside to enjoy this story is that if you did not play the previous games (Metal Gear and MG 2 msx) you will not understand part of the plot of the game, since part of the magic of the game as I said is the narrative of it, however, the game usually put in context the past events through conversations with allies, but despite this you do not fully understand the story.

I in particular in the third installment of MGS on PSVita (which includes the first 2 msx games) did not complete the first installment of msx due to the gameplay so orthopedic and did not play the second and, however, I think that in the end you can enjoy it without having completed the prequels.

In the field of gameplay and logically taking into account the years that brings the game I must say that not aged so badly and unlike the first installment of msx I adapted to the controls in relatively little time, the camera almost all the time is up on the character, after you get used to it is no problem and it is worth mentioning that being the first game in 3D has merit speaking both the gameplay and graphically, was top of the first PlayStation, areas with enemies that can detect us and we must be careful with them are nothing extraordinary, If we are detected the law is to run and hide until the alert state disappears, there are 3 states in the stealth, when we have not yet been detected, the yellow that is when we are detected, but after a while we lose the trail and divide to look for us and the alert state is when we just detected, The map that shows the area of vision of the enemy helps us to avoid being seen (unless we play on hard where this is deactivated) although as I said it works as it should, these phases end up being like transition zones; not because the mechanics are generic but rather for the highlight of the campaign and that shines for the variety: the battle against bosses, which will not be few precisely, this is where the game stands out the most and where the genius of the creators (especially that of Hideo Kojima) comes to light, the mechanics of these battles give much versatility to the game, as there are battles that could seem partly puzzles because many times we will not know what we will have to do against them or what strategy to use, by the fact that in many occasions they have weak points that we will have to discover either on our own or in many occasions through conversations before or during the battles, that pause the combat in favor of listening to a suggestion or advice that in many times will help us, in short, the game tries to change often of situation and to make us not feel that we are always doing the same thing and in my opinion it achieves it in a very good way.

Graphically, we are facing a sublime game (logically considering the year and the console in which they were released of course) we have 3D environments that almost seem to PlayStation 2, as for the dubbing I played it in Spanish and I think the dubbing is pretty good, considering that it is a video game, sometimes it sounds like a movie not only the voice of the protagonist, but also of the allies and enemies mostly sound with a very good quality and performance and helps to immerse you more in the plot and story that tells, Metal Gear Solid is tremendous in virtually all sections, its duration is good without highlighting with a varied campaign, a very good story that gets you hooked and very good graphics at the time is easily one of the most complete games and in my opinion also one of the best in the industry.

Without further ado I say goodbye friends, until next time.
