More Electronics Cleanup

Sigh... it has been a busy few days of cleaning out the study to get rid of a desk and to make it a more useable room instead of a dump slash storage room. A lot of that has meant going through a lot of old electrical and electronic equipment to check if we actually needed to keep or not...

... and there was a good chunk of NOT keeping. Sure, I do like to hoard old electrical things, and electronics, and cables... on the off chance that I end up using it in a long intended project or something. But when a good chunk of this stuff is starting to near two decades old... well, honestly, it would be better to get something cheap and new that would be more reliable, more powerful, and less janky.

... oh a lots of boxes of install media from a time when the internet was definitely much less fast and reliable! CDs... I'm not sure that I even have an external CD player anywhere! So... all going into the bin... and most of the programmes and drivers, well... those things are long gone! Or just got turfed out recently.

... of course, there are a few things things that are worth more than zero. Like this set of Razer PC speakers. We don't have any need for them, but they have the complication of being a EU plug. So, it would be annoying to sell as well... So, after a good deal of thought and angst... I decided it would e-waste. The likelihood of it reselling is practically zero, and it would be too annoying to deal with the online scammers. Plus, I wasn't that impressed with the speakers either... we also had a Logitech one that was much older, and cheaper... and BETTER!

.. and I was also a bit sad to let this graphics card go... one of the first computers that I built had this, and then I upgraded the GPU and swapped this out... and it has been hanging around, useable... but without a purpose other than as a extra in case of emergency. Again, something that probably isn't worth more than about 20 dollars.. if that! So, straight to the e-waste unfortunately...
