AUSKANG 5000 mAhr Slim Battery

With spare Lithium-ion batteries for travelling, I tend to stick to the AUKEY brand as I've had great experience with them, and they just feel decently premium in the hand. As a complete tech-nerd, I tend to go for the fastest charging and highest capacity batteries around... and that means that they tend to be bulkier and heavier than what most people will want to have around with them on a daily basis.

And that is definitely the case with my oldest girl and my wife... they have spare large capacity batteries that are hand me downs from my kit... and they work perfectly, but they are often left at home and out of the bags/handbags because they are heavy and bulky... and then, invariably they run out of phone battery when we are travelling or out for an extended period... and then they come running to me.

So, when an article about this cheap but decently built lower capacity battery crossed my feed from ZDNET.. I was pretty intrigued. A small capacity battery with a decent metal build, that was about palm sized... similar sized to most phones and a lot thinner? Well, that might be just the thing for my wife and child to have! After all, a small battery is better than no battery... and this battery will still charge a single phone fully. But I still like my 20,000 and 25,000 mAhr beasts!

So... at about 20 or so AUD. This is what you get. A no frills battery, with a metal body construction that feels pretty sturdy... which is quite impressive given the thinness of the battery housing!

Also, nice and light... and cool to the touch. I'm starting to feel a little jealous!

Two outputs... with one of the outputs serving as a the charging input as well. All of them USB-C in shape.... but with slower 2A charging speeds. Its okay for phones as an emergency, but this is definitely not a fast charger! But again, matching needs of a non-tech-nerd usage to the equipment!

But the stand out feature... the integrated USB-C cable. A charger is useless without the cable... and if you have seen the insides of my wife's handbag... well, cables are just going to get lost in there... or tangled and destroyed. So, having a cable that tucks away neatly into the body and the USB port? Definite WIN!

So... a neat little nice feeling package... small charger, slower charging speeds... but a metal body construction, and integrated USB cable. I will stick with my fast and large chargers... I have other things that need more power and capacity... but, for my wife and girl... and probably most people, this is a much better option! You barely even notice that it is in your kit!

It is a decent and cheap one... light enough to throw in a small bag.
