Sometimes life gives us lemons - let us make lemonade ! A story of survivors...

Sometimes the world seems upside down but all we need is the correct perspective!

Life is not always rosy and there are occasions when we just tend to curl over and give up. Fighting spirit and an instinct to survive is getting lost these days. Amenities, comforts and gadgets have made our life easy and have made us soft.

The very things, instinct, survival and no-die attitude made us humans the top-most intelligent and dominant species on earth but we are losing touch...

So any time I see in the jungle a bird or animal putting in efforts to survive under harshest conditions, I admire them and decide - whenever life gives me a lemon, I will rejoice and make lemonade! Like a a sunbird that goes up side down in a windy storm to look for food but never gives up and does find lovely nectar too..

I observed the sunbird for a whole morning .. It was particularly windy and it was not really easy for it to hunt insects and spiders because the leaves and branches were moving all over. Other birds were not even venturing to fly as the weather clouded over even more but the little sunbirds kept at it ... They never gave up!

Their never say die attitude soon produced results and one of them found this nice juicy meal...

These birds endure the worst of weather. Let many storms come, we will ride them out.... This is the attitude of a survivor and fighter. Wet but not down and out!

Their un-ending efforts through the day do bring them returns - heavenly nectar in some lovely flowers. It is not easy to get this meal either when the whole branch, for that matter the entire tree is shaking in strong winds. The little brave sunbirds hang on to the branch fearlessly, balancing themselves with a flutter of wing here and there..

Here is one more warrior, hanging on to the thin stem of the Lion's ear flowers, to drink nectar from below...

We all can learn so much from nature and I certainly learnt to adapt, be perseverant and survive from these sunbirds...

Therefore, my favorite and my entry for SMAP 113 is the following pic I took of a sunbird, hanging upside down adapting to find food hidden under leave and still managing to look pretty!😀

@joanstewart Thank you Joan. You made a very apt observation of the attitude and colorful personality of the sunbirds. They are one of my favorite category of birds. So far, I have been able to click 4 types of sunbird species. Hoping to click many more...

Dazzling little birds, not all that easy to capture being smaller ones in my area. Larger ones inland sit quite nicely for photography, always excitement when you hear their distinct call.

As always marvelous pictures and thoughtful post. 🙂
I love that saying about the lemon and the lemonade, one of my favourite.
The sunbird knows how to make the lemonade for sure. 😀

Today was very windy here, birds kept on doing what they have to do. Hubby showed me some of his pics - the nightingale singing against the wind, the dove standing firm with ruffled feathers.

Please don't forget to add the link of your post, so your entry to be valid.

As usual your encouraging words make me want to keep posting more pics in the community.
Oops - forgot all about the link. Will add it now on comments in the contest post.
