Seriemas are the only living members of the Cariamidae bird family, which is also the only surviving lineage of the order Cariamiformes. They were formerly classified within the order Gruiformes, but molecular data suggest a position of seriemas within a clade, which also includes falcons, parrots, and passerines, as well as the extinct terrorbirds (Phorusrhacidae).🤩🤔

They make their nests in trees, generally they lay 2 eggs which have an incubation period of 30 days, then the chicks leave the nest their parents! they basically take 4 months to acquire an adult plumage! They are birds that can be domesticated if they are taken from a young age, previously if you practiced the domestication of this animal by farmers to control pests in crops!🥚🥚

Its behavior highlights that it is a solitary bird, which only shares with another specimen in the breeding season where the couple hunt together, and feed later in the nest, it is walking through the undergrowth always observing the ground with its beautiful blue eyes in search of food!😮😮

We get to the interesting part of the topic and that is that Cariama cristata is on the lookout! In search of their food, you can see their slow and silent walk, looking from one place to another always concentrated!😍😍

Our one individual has seen a lizard on the ground, (IT'S MADE OF PLASTIC xD), and is he about to attack it? Did you know that the powerful weapon of this species is its neck? you wonder doesn't it make sense? observe well !!!😏😏

Exactly in this way is that the specimen of seriema kills its prey, it takes them with its beak! perform a whip-like movement and drop the animal to the ground! The most incredible thing is that to make his attack method efficient, he looks for a stone on the ground and that is where he throws the prey! because he knows that with a stone there is a better chance of killing his food!😮😮

In so many years of experience what fascinates me about the feathered ones is that they never cease to amaze me, and that is that each species has a particularity that stands out from others! therefore, studying the behavior of birds is an activity that is very popular with zoologists! I HOPE YOU LEARNED FROM MY POST!💥👨‍🏫👨‍🎓
@oscurity

Lol what a punk rocker hairdoo. Bird is wondering why that plastic lizard tastes bad, he had to throw a stone on it to be sure.

I must admit I never heard about this bird before. How interesting is the method of killing its prey. And the look of the bird is so funny with its hairdo.
